In this video I investigate a crackly volume pot on an old bass amplifier and complete the repair by replacing the bad pot with a new one.

Can anyone help me.. I have a Roland micro cube and of all pots to go bad it is the one that controls 4 fx so my confusion is that each 25% of turn is hi two low of 1/4 of effects.. anyway bought it used n that pot spins 360• so past off n on so. My confusion is is this fixable? Replaceable? And is this just any ordinary pit or do I need to order some special 4 way? New to this and don’t know the differences or where to order them.. I’d hate to be out a $180 decent practice amp n my best amp at the moment over a bad pot but the amp is useless because you can’t find on off sweet spot and it blends all 4 Fx as of now so you can’t even just leave it on say just chorus just phase just flange just Trem it’s a blend of a horrid sound... any help appreciated thank you

I hope you’re still reading these. I have a volume pot that when I turn it up it’s only a whisper. Would replacing/cleaning it be your first guess at why it’s not working correctly? Thanks if that is it your tutorial is exactly what I need

Hard to say without more detail but for the few seconds it takes, it's always worth giving your pots, switches, and jacks a clean. Sadly there are many reasons a volume would only output a whisper, could be you've blown a valve or a transistor.

Man this could revive my 15-year old Laney HCM30! Does this method also apply to the EQ and Drive pots? Do I need specific values?

Hello, I have a Marshall Vavestate 40V, and I noticed that the bass pot isn't working at all. I changed the potentiometer already but still the same. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks!

Everythings fixable if you can find the parts, you just have to be careful to match the new pot to the one you are removing. Thanks for watching!

I'm not familiar with that amp and I'm not sure what you mean by master volume control pod button? Is it one where you pull the knob out to toggle between clean and overdrive? Whatever it is as long as you can get to the board the pot is mounted on then it should be a straightforward repair, just make sure when you order your new pot that the resistance matches the old one and for volume control you should be buying a logarithmic pot. Might even be worth emailing Line 6 to see if they carry spares. Also when you dismantle your amp take lots of pictures along the way to help you remember how it goe sback together. Good luck and if it seems unsafe don't do it.

to be honest my soldering ain't that great so I wouldn't attempt a soldering technique video without seriously upping my game first. I'm also very much of the opinion idiots generally shouldn't be allowed to hold soldering irons. Thanks for watching

Right then. I'm pretty certain about this: You are the father of one of my son's mates. It was in your shed underneath your lad's Derbi moped in a pool of oil in your wife's best frying pan. Along with my 3/8" socket wrench which hasn't been seen since, either.

no help at all 'identifying' ! lucky you, you ordered the right pot.
@jpsworkshop2544
@jpsworkshop2544 6 жыл бұрын
You're quite right to point this out, though most pots you find have their resistance value printed on the back. Replace like for like and you should be fine, logarithmic for volume and linear for tone

I have the same issue "identifying" what I need as a volume pot for an old Hartke B120 bass combo ... Should I just by "any" logaritmic scale pot and solder it in? or is there any guidance/experience/advice on which to buy ?

My bass amp has been really quiet for weeks now. I’ve replaced the battery and even the clip but it’s still about 1/3 as loud as usual. I’m sure it’s not the actual bass or cables but it’s hard to see what’s wrong with the amp itself.
