I just turned my wheel all the way right and went inbetween the wheel well guard and the bumper. didnt have to take off more than two clips instead of the whole bumper. i used a pair of pliers on the pump holder with next to no damage. Took 15 minutes for the whole thing.

1aauto, thank you so much for these tutorials. You’re making a huge difference for us. I had two separate mechanics diagnosed my pump as failing. I had a second do it cause I believe there was a leak. The second mechanic said it was the pump and they quoted me $$170 to change it here in silverthorne co. I went to the store and bought a $20 pump and when I used this video to get me to my reservoir, I learned there was a leak coming from the hose above the tire. So I replaced the hose and returned the pump and I fixed the issue myself for $0. I also was quoted that it would cost me $900 to change all my brake pads and rotors with cheap parts. I bought all ceramic rotors and pads for front and back brakes from you for $144 dollars and did it myself through your tutorials. Because if you, 1AAuto, I saved myself $900. You won me as a sincere customer and I will always be loyal to you and come to you for now on for help. If I do need help from a mechanic, is there any shops in Denver CO or the west par of Colorado? I live in Silverthorne CO in the mountains.

Who quoted you $170? I live in Dillon and might pay them to do it on my '08

Top class video. Extremely clear instructions. My front washer motor has failed and so this is more than useful. My workshop manual says nothing about it. Thank you.

Excellent video. At first I thought I'd tackle this one myself, but considering the hassle, I'm calling "my guy." I remember when my grandfather, a Corvette guy, always complained about my grandmothers German BMWs as being over engineered. It appears just about everything is over engineered these days. Good grief. Big shout out to Penn Garage in the Denver area. Terry really knows his stuff and charges standard rates no matter the job.

Lots of info in a short video. Thanks! FYI, for those who are getting only partial flow, or only leaking while operating the pumps, it is likely the rubber hoses. Motors and washer reservoir were just fine for me, but all of the hoses (front and back) were cracked and the front one was crack going up to the hood in multiple places. Recommend replacing all of them and as much of the tube going to the rear of the car as possible. Also recommend jacketing the hoses in flexible plastic conduit. UV breaks down rubber hoses even faster than heat from engine. you will need to partially remove the driver fender and about 7-10 feet of rubber tubing.

Thanks for sharing this. I was hoping it was going to be easy like it was on my 03! No such luck. Didn't have to remove the whole bumper, although *maybe* it would have been easier if I had; just loosened the one corner.

This is cruel!!! Bought the part before watching the video. I’m returning it. A squeegee, and a bottle of Windex will be in my car instead. 😂

I have a 2008 Subaru WRX and I can't find video of a windsheld washer pump replacement. Is the Outback W/W pump set-up is similar to the WRX of the same year ?
@nathanprosser9973 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. It was very informative. I am wondering why there is 2 pumps though. I have a 2008 subaru liberty (im in Australia where a legacy is called a liberty) and it has 2 different washing functions for the windscreen and 1 is not working and i can see only 1 pump in there behind the bumper. Any answers please? I onow it seems obvious but i wasnt dure if the decond pump was for the back window on wagons but mine is a sedan with no rear widow washer.

The hoses on my 2006 outback that run from the pump to the windshield are craked and leaking. Are there any videos that show how to access the hoses and replace them? Is it best to remove the fender linner or the fender?

For whom is this video designed? I seriously doubt that anyone with a lift in their garage is a do it yourselfer. I am frustrated that I cannot find a video on how to do this without having a lift and disassembling so much of the front end of the car. This may be the only way to go, but if there is another, I would love to hear about it.

+David A. Thanks for checking us out! Our videos are designed to help all of you out there save money by giving you the confidence and know-how to perform your own repairs! We use a lift because it allows us to clearly show you how to perform the repair. If we tried to film with the car on jack stands the viewer would not be able to see exactly how to do it. That being said almost all the repair videos we have can be performed on jack stands, including this one! `1aauto.com

For what it's worth, I'm doing this in my garage with my Legacy put up on ramps. I didn't need to pull the wheels off, and removing the bumper was simple enough. I just struggled a bit with the plastic pieces that were all dirty and uncooperative.
@kartboarder22g175 жыл бұрын
Honestly may not even have to jack the car up to get the bumper off. I question if you would even need to remove the tank, but you would have to take off at least the drivers side of the bumper to get at this thing.

its easy to take the bonnet off the front to do your work, I get it done under 10 minutes.
@zerogrim8224 жыл бұрын
Grendals right. Unsnap the side fender and your reservoir is right there. The guy is right though. It’s easier to unlock the pump when you take the reservoir out but if your gonna leave it in there, be prepared to control your emotions. When I did it, there wasn’t necessarily a lock though. It’s just a tab you need to pull out to untuck it from what’s holding it in place. I can see it possibly being easy if I would have know that at first.

Ok... Thats too many steps for me. I thought my filter screen is clogged but I dont see one on this set up where the pump meets the resivoir. So now Im really confused why the fluid isnt spraying well? Do you know why it might be barely spraying even if my pump still runs fine from what Im hearing??? Im gonna take it to a shop, but I would like to be aware of exactly whats wrong so they dont try to screw me over with extra labor costs pretending to try to find whats wrong, ya know? Any info is greatly appreciated... Thanks guys!!

Assume one pump delivers to windshield & the other to the rear window If both do not run what is the likely problem
