Anyone else say F it and just drop the money for the Wheel Bearing/Hub/Knuckle assembly? 😂 a far easier install.

Very well done. One of my wheel bearings gave out after only 102,000 miles. I was a little surprised, given Toyota's reputation for quality. At my age, (80) I just don't want to fool with the problem so I took the car to a local repair shop which is replacing both bearings for $1500.00. OUCH! ( In fairness, This is a lot more complex a procedure than when I used to do my own wrenching on my cars.)

Does the hub have to be replaced, can’t you reuse the old one?
@TRQ11 ай бұрын
+Ryan Angus It is not necessary to replace the hub if it is in good condition.

So why not just remove the caliper and bracket as one whole piece?

Guess I have to pay the $1060 to the mechanic. 😂

Thank you for this. I am going to tackle this job soon on my dads Avalon. I couldn’t help but laugh when you cut the vid short while removing the race from the old hub…then in the next scene, you’re installing a brand new hub 😂. I am going to try to reuse my dads old hubs….wish me luck.

Watching him drop his tools every so often makes me feel a bit better about learning cuz i can't seem to keep ahold on mine most of the time either

Damn, guess I’m gonna have to buy a few more tools to tackle this one!

A lot of effort involved, surprised Toyota didn't come up with an easier way. Did the front ones on a Ford a few years ago, very simple case of undoing one bolt in the centre pulling out the old hub then replacing it with a new hub. Good video.

You don't have to go through all that just to remove the hub

if you buy the whole hub/bearing assembly do you still have to remove the old bearing or just replace it a whole? I know is a dumb question but i rather know.
