Welp…I’m not an everyday mechanic. I do the basics to my truck. Brakes n rotors, oil changes, tire change n rotation, fixing battery issues, censors…u get the point….but my main point to my comment is that I’ve been fixing my ‘05 Trailblazer on my own to save a few bucks with bigger jobs for the past couple years. Now I can put hub bearings on the list of things I fixed/changed myself 👍🏽. This vid was very clear n straight to the friggin point to help me continue to do so n save a dollar or two. So thank u! Highly appreciated n keep up the good work. Btw….Liked n followed.

This was the most ambitious repair I have ever tried on my 2005 Trailblazer and I couldn't have done it without your video. You made every step of the repair work clear and concise. Another mechanic working at the public garage I was using gave the advice of keeping the nut on the axle prior to hitting it with the hammer which was good advice as it took more than a dozen blows on each side to loosen the axle from the wheel hub.

excellent video... the only thing I would suggest different is that a person that is inexperienced should keep the nut on the axle when hitting it or use a center punch so that you don't strike it and graze off and damage threads on axle. other than that, again your videos are very detailed and informative. I have recommended them to a few people already.

Awesome video. I just did my wife's 2006 Trailblazer and this was a great help to me as I had never done one of these before. Unfortunately, you were out of stock on the hub assembly that I needed but I will make a purchase from you in the future as my way of saying thank you. BTW... I am the one guy who needed to hit the assembly more than one time to get it off.

I just wanted to thank you for all the information you provide, it has saved me literally thousands of dollars. I purchased a 04 Trailblazer about 1 year ago, this SUV has been nothing but trouble from day one. I have literally rebuilt the car front to back. It seems that my wife (who now drives it) tells me daily there is another caution light on, check engine, check garages etc. But it wasn't until I had a doctor appointment I notice that the car had a terrible grinding noise coming from the front of the car. Her solution to the problem was turning the radio on loud enough to drown out the noise. it turned out to be the passenger side wheel bearing hub. It was so worn out I had to beat it off with a 3-pound hammer.

Start ordering your parts from us and you'll be saving even more! ;) Really though, it's great to hear that our work is making your life easier. Sorry to hear about that blazer. Every once in a while you just get a car that turns out to be a real lemon. Glad you were able to find that bearing though before it turned into an accident! Sometimes a heavy hammer is exactly the sort of "persuasion" an old part needs to comply lol! Thanks for watching! 1aauto.com?KZbin&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393
Thanks 1A Auto for the video tutorial. Followed it step by step and this non-mechanic changed out the part with no issues. Just a note though.... perhaps you could put a mention at the beginning of the video that if you're going to have your vehicle up on jack stands to loosen the Hub Nut before raising the vehicle. Aside from that I owe you guys. This video showed me that it's not too complicated for the novice. It gave me the confidence to tackle it on my own. Sorry to say that I needed it done quick so I got my parts from Napa. You also showed me Brake Shoe/Caliper replacement. You guys would dominate the internet if you had tutorials on all makes and models for all parts that didn't need "special" tools/ lifts or other gear. You guys are AWESOME!!!!! Watched the video on replacing the hubs, very helpful, Although, I did encounter a problem I did not expect. Recently replace my tires, evidently, the person who installed my tires rounded off one of the lug nuts so badly that the 19MM socket would not fit the lug. All the lugs were so tight that I had to use a breaker bar. Thanks, it was a hard job for a guy in his 70's. The passenger side hub was almost rust welded onto the spindle. A little liquid wrench and a three-pound hammer I finally got the hub off. But your video did HELP a lot.

Just got done doing this in the driveway, in the rain. I had the new part on hand and was planning on doing it on Saturday with better weather, but the wife called me and said it had started a wobble in the neighborhood, could I get it done tonight so she could get to work in the morning. Came here to double check removing the old assembly, mine was a little tight coming out. I had all three bolts out, but wanted to see if there was a clip or bracket holding it back. I wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed anything, and make sure it really was just stuck. The dead blow hammer didn’t get it done, but the 3 lb sledge got it loose. Buttoned it back up, did a road test and she can get to work in the morning. Thanks for the video.

On the 2WD model you wouldn't have them. The Trailblazer shown in the video is a 4WD model, and that nut helps to secure the axle into the hub. Hope this helps you out.
@Thorgiersson6 жыл бұрын
I haven't read the rest of the comments so if someone has mentioned this, oh well. I am amazed that you used a metal hammer on a threaded shaft. That's a good way to damage the threads. I use a plastic dead blow or if I don't have one I will put the nut back on almost all the way and hit it (not the safest way but better than risking naked threads).

I hope this fixes the problem for my trailblazer. The rotor itself is being ground down and I've already checked the calipers and they work. The wheel has play in it up and down and side to side when it's lifted off the ground. Thanks for the tutorial, now I'm gonna go bust my knuckles and teach the kids a few new words their mom won't be appriciative of haha
@1AAuto8 жыл бұрын
+Sig Outdoors A bad wheel bearing won't wear down the rotor. Rotors get worn down by pads that need to be replaced. When the pad is fully worn out, the metal backing plate is all that rubs against the rotor and it grinds the rotor away. If you do have movement in the tire as described, you need to replace the hub anyway. The side to side movement usually means your ball joints and or tie rods need replacing as well. Here's a link to a whole front end suspension kit. Order from us by 5PM and we guarantee it to ship that same day, we cover the shipping. www.1aauto.com/suspension-kit/i/1asfk02023?f=1090683&y=2002&KZbin&CTA%20Comment&ATony

It was actually the dust shield down there causing it, it was so rusted and bent out of shape from wheeling and fishing the beach. it was causing the rubbing/grinding. Thank you for the response tho, and looking at that kit I maybe ordering parts from you guys from now on.

Great vid, this worked nicely on an 07 Isuzu Ascender. I like that you have a required tools list at the beginning. On the wiring harness portion - one of the connectors on the original harness (the one with two stems) broke off, leaving plastic in the mounting hole. I had to drill out the plastic from the metal. It was actually metal and plastic that had corroded together. This happened on both sides. Got through it OK, luckily I had the tools on hand to fix it.

Most likely the grinding noise is going to be the wheel bearing itself. Normally when the bearing goes bad, the sensors tone ring does not line up correctly for the sensor to read it.

Thanks so much for your video, very helpful. We have an ABS & check engine light on in our 2005 TB. Took the TB to have the check engine code checked & while driving the TB noticed a grinding noise coming from the drivers side wheel. When the TB was hooked up to check for the check engine codes the computer also indicated a bad left ABS sensor, would a bad sensor also create the grinding noise that we are hearing or is it likely that the whole hub bearing assembly is bad and should be replaced?

Good video but...do not rap on the cv axle with a mallet. This WILL damage the threads. Use a drift/punch smaller than the diameter of the axle. Those are fine threads and can be difficult to repair. A piece of hardwood works well...usually. Oh yeah...don't forget to tie up the caliper when positioning it out of the way. In order to keep the rubber hose intact.
