Thanks so much for this video. I found myself in the same situation of having to use the same deadbolt as the old lock and just installing the new lock. Today, our garage door was opened from the outside for the first time in what may have been decades, since my grandmother claimed to have never had the key.

Thank you so much for posting this video. Do you have any tips for a garage door that has loose “wires” connected to the lock? I started having problems because the manual hardware turn piece would not “click” and open as it usually does when the garage door is unlocked. I am not a handy person. Thank you.

If the door is locked, can it be manually opened (unlocked) from inside? The key is only needed to unlock door from outside?

Yes, that is how mine is. I don't have the key for the garage door. I can unlock it from the inside but not the outside. Too much extra walking, time to fix it!

I replaced my lock as you demonstrated. The problem I’m having is that once it’s locked from inside I can unlock it from outside garage. Making it accessible for anyone to open after being locked. What do you think I did wrong?

There is usually a latch on the inside that when you turn the lock, the latch catches and locks the door prevents it from opening outside by turning the lock.

The latch part on the inside may need to be lubricated to pop up to fit in the catch. Also if you have an old lock you may need to file the catch or lock part on the inside for a better fit. if not purchase a new inside latch assembly . Most sold seem to be crappy and don't last.

Do not buy this EverBilt lock! It will only last about 1 to 2 years before it will BREAK! The internal parts are poor quality. The internal part that breaks is made of poor quality die cast plastic/metal crap & is very thin. The actual deadbolt is made to look bronze, but is actually painted diecast plastic/metal that has 2 thin parts which are behind the rear cover plate with the plus symbol and philips head screw. The video purposefully does NOT show this weakness in the internal design. This will break! i've broken 2 locks in the last 4 years and I only open my garage door maybe 1-3 times per week.

Not a good video. Dead bolt has to be rigged to latch and gimbel assembly. To be sure lock and latch are coordinated.
