Five minutes? It took me two hours to fix it, but now my iPhone is as good as new. Thanks for the video!
@ljnrf8 жыл бұрын
4:22, you put in "the third screw" next to the home button. That screw holds the back metal plate so that cannot be screwed in before you put the plate on. You should edit your video and correct that (and mention the purple plastic protection you forgot to take off)
@lukewojcik86637 жыл бұрын
I have never done anything else remotely like this and even I noticed the screw mistake straight away that I corrected, I left the film on because I thought maybe, just maybe this guy might still know what he is doing, but after assembling it, the response on the digitiser is a bit funny at times... This proves that no matter how professional someone seems, that has nothing to do with them being a reliable source of info and expertise. I mean come, those were two obvious mistakes, I was expecting him to at least go 'duh sorry guys' when installing the back plate and correcting the screw. I always question people who look like they know the alphabet. Anyway, it did help me install the screen I guess.. but I should take it apart a bit now to get that film off, though I fear to run the risk of damaging anything as I was surprised everything seemed to work pretty ok, apart from the occasional digitiser hiccups that I am assuming is from the film, in fact im surprised its not performing worse from what I read about not removing that film.. WHY IS THIS COMMENT SO LOW

I thought that protector on the back was supposed to be taken off. My old screen doesn't have a film like that. And that third screw. I knew it held that back heat protector on, but when I saw him put it on without the metal plate, I was slightly confused.
@MasonSanchez.4 жыл бұрын
@@dalltex I didn't see what you were talking about on my phone. There is a small round clear plastic spacer that the front camera fits into, and my "bare-bones" screen like his had that in place already. And there's a very small square shaped clear plastic piece I broke off of my old screen, but that's also already in place on my new screen. Can you please describe the two pieces you are talking about? Thanks in advance!!!!
@ljnrf4 жыл бұрын
@@MasonSanchez. it's been my experience that different replacement screens have different amounts of those parts attached. It sounds like your replacement assembly already had them. However that protector, you have to take that off. That screw, cannot go in as shown. If you look on ifixit they often have good high-resolution photos of what it should look like.

This guide has some pretty big mistakes in it and it can ruin the phone if you're not paying attention: - First BIG mistake is pulling the home button flex cable from left to right which will most probably end up with the flex cable being damaged. Instead it should be first heated gently with a hair dryer or heat gun and then, from right to left (starting from the two golden cells) and using a razor blade or something sharp enough you should try and unstick that flex cable. Using this guide I broke my original home button flex cable - Second BIG mistake has already been pointed out by others here in the comments section and that is leaving that protective tape on the back of the replacement LCD panel. That should be peeled off immediately as you start assembling that new display back. Leaving that tape there will interfere with the digitizer as it will act as an obstacle between the digitizer and the metal plate on the back. DO NOT LEAVE IT THERE! It's only purpose is to protect the digitizer's back until it reached you. - Third mistake is in the front camera module where a little metal piece will pop-off and this video doesn't show that or how to put it back. That metal piece, with only two borders present on it's four sides acts as a protection and it's a pain to fit it back in although it only fits in one position Hope this comment will help and at least save you a couple of dollars, the normal price for a home button flex cable!

@Peter-gn8pj6 жыл бұрын
I ripped the other one at 3:58- the 'easier' one. one of the little oval metal contacts stayed on the MB. then I struggled to remove it (i shouldn't have- I should have left it there..) When I reassembled, I tried to position that torn off contact correctly. I cannot report if it worked however because I later had other problems. In general this is a good video, but goes too fast for people don't have technical prowess. So read the comments and take the many good suggestions. Having double stick tape and diagrams for screws is good - though be careful with the tape because if the screws get too stuck, you might fling them into oblivion when you try to pick them back up. I used an old weekly pill doser, and put in the screw in separate 'days' for each step. It worked ok except for certain steps where you have different sized screws & need to keep track of that as well.
