My theory is save yourself money and do it yourself. This isn't a hard project to take on yourself. It doesn't need much in terms of tools or time. I picked up my pump from Home Depot for $118. Took approx 45 mins to install.

@@MrV2u thanks. Turned off system 8 hours today. Flipped back on and the noisy Circulator is so super hot even though that floor is off. When I put that floor to 80 degrees nothing happens. That floor doesn't warm up 1 degree. Like in your video, the pipes after the air valve are cooler to the touch. I did order the circulator today and may just wait as you said. The upper floors are fine. System does always seem to bleed out air when I open the air valves manually upstairs and even ones in boiler room. Can I just disconnect the wires on the side of the circulator so it doesn't get super hot and so that rest of house gets heated. Thankfully it's been 70+ degrees this week during day.

@MrV2u

The closer the shut off valves are to the pump the less water comes out. If you have a spirovent the system will bleed air out. You still may have to bleed the system out because of the chance air gets in. Find your bleeder valve and open them slowly. Thanks for the feedback my friend.

Hi! Excellent post. Thank you. When I bought the new pump off of Amazon, there was a little plastic piece inside the thing I left it in because I thought it was part of it but I’ve installed it and I’m not getting any hot water through the pipes yet. Any coaching?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 10 ай бұрын
The plastic piece does it look like fins inside? Make sure the pump is in the correct orientation. The arrow on the pump tells you which way the pump is forcing the water pressure. If you reversed it by mistake it will never work. Touch both sides pre and after the pump they should both be equal on a proper pump setup. Let me know if that helps brother. Also make sure you bleed air out of the system.

@@MrV2u I am all set. yes we used the same pump. What happened is I opened both isolation valves simultaneously and powered up the boiler and immediately turned on the thermostat and the pump started but I guess it was dry and didn't pump (discharge ice cold) and extremely loud. The second time I opened the inlet isolation valve and got the other zone going and waited 5 minutes. Then I opened the discharge valve and waited 5 minutes. Then I turned on the thermostat and the pump pumped (hot on discharge) but a little noisy from air but after 5 minutes quiet and perfect. Thanks anyway, great video!

Do you need to bleed the air out of the system after you reinstall the circulator?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 6 ай бұрын
It’s always advisable to bleed the air. I have a spirovent which can take out 80 plus percent of the air automatically. If you have bleeder valves slowly open them to vent the air.

Question: Which of the following would fail first. The pump or the flow preventer?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 10 ай бұрын
Could be either. Did you loose water pressure in the house? Did you test both sides of the pump and feel hot in both pipes?

Curious if you have the pump that’s closest to the tank fail, how to stop water coming from tank side when removing (no shut off valve next to it as they are in your video). Thanks!

Your going to have to drain the tank then and refill it when your done and bleed the system from air when your done. Let me know how you make out brother.

is any bleed of air required or with isolation valves NOT required....
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 8 ай бұрын
Even with the isolation valves you may need to bleed some air out the system. If you have a spirovent it will help immensely.

Man, pipes on both sides of my pumps are cold, but the pump gets hot when its on. Hot water otherwise works - any ideas??
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 22 күн бұрын
@@mmmben it all depends on your setup brother. You may have hot water on one system and heat on another. Turn your heat on and check if the pipes get hot and you get heat. As for the taco getting hot that’s normal when it’s on.

My circulator pump comes directly from my boiler( I have an indirect water heater that is for hot water only)…I don’t have a valve to cut water off to circulator pump but I do have a shutoff valve after circulator pump….what’s my best bet to change this….all other circulator pumps are operating normal ( basement,1st floor and water heater)
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 11 ай бұрын
Shut the valve off after the pump and depending get a bucket to catch the water. Make sure to bleed the system of air and you’ll be good to go. Let me know if that helps brother and how you make out.

I changed my valve after it broke and heater for that zone didn't work. After the change, the heater works but the heater is always off. So I changed the circulator again thinking it was broken. I replaced thermostat and did a voltage test to ensure thermostat is working. S now Inhave a zone that is always hot even if thermostat is off. seems the circulator pumps but doesn't stop the hot water flow when turned off. any ideas?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u Жыл бұрын
Stuck diverter or zone valve possibly half open. Could be hard water. Thermostat can be off but hot water will continue to be sent in that situation. It depends on electronically the system is set up. Some furnaces will call for heat even with the thermostat off. It might feed a hot water heater as well so the pot in the furnace constantly calls for a certain temp. It can be other things but without seeing the system physically it’s hard to pin point.

@@MrV2u thank you. the only thing I know is that before the circulator went bad i.e., the heater stopped working, the on and off eas working properly. Meaning that once thermostat was off heater was cool. after that went and was replaced Inhad this problem.

Stupid question but did you wire it correctly? The taco should only turn on when the thermostat calls for heat.

@@MrV2u yes confirmed the circulator turns on only and powered via thermostat. however issue is the warm water is still in the pipes and heaters.

When a diverter fails or gets blocked with debris, hot water intended for the hot water circuit can get into the radiator circuit. Then the radiators will be hot even though the heat is turned off.
