Thanks for the video. I rescued one in November from Morrisons and popped into a cold frame. I think it needs a desperate repot and sadly some of the traps have developed what looks like powdery mildew or some sort of fungal growth on the tops of the leaves. Time to go and investigate, clean it up and give it a fresh medium of moss peat and perlite!

@@MicksMasdevalliaorchids thanks Mick. I got as far as finding and cleaning/scrubbing out square pots amongst our huge hoard of round pots! I had an hour left of daylight, so will give my 4 Sarracenia's a repot tomorrow as all have roots bursting out of the pot holes. I'll start with the healthiest first in case I spread any mould spores. Happy growing to you 😊

Another nice video. I kept killing sarracenias, but with these tips i will try some again when the stores are back open. Stay safe and happy growing 😁

Thanks . Sarracenia are quite easy, stood in water during summer and kept on capillary matting during winter, that’s how I manage them. thanks for watching and commenting stay safe.

Thanks Mick!!!! I have learned alot from your channel!! (Won't tell you how many carnivorous plants we have thrown away thinking they were dead). People get them thinking it's a novelty for the kids to enjoy from the dyi stores. I am guilty as well. Since I have seen the different varieties I became interested in them. All they sell in the dyi stores is the venus fly trap. (Don't know its scientific name) anyway, I am glad I have learned better. Your information is greatly appreciated!!!!

Sorry for late reply YT only just pushed several comments through, yours sounds like a sarracenia they grow tall and have different coloured flowers.

Just watched this video, but you should always soak your mix in water before you use it. It should be boggy wet, like mud. Peat tends to be hydrophobic once dry. If you pot up using dry mix it will take water out of the plant and set it back.

Thanks for that tip but we all use different methods when potting up , them two plants have survived grown on and even been divided to create additional plants and are still growing strong.
