A lot of ignorant and rude comments on here. You did a great job! I love the colors on that knife. Thank you for sharing! 1. A craftsman is not made great by his tools. His tools are made great by his craftsmanship. 2. The buck 110 is a legendary knife that goes back generations of deer hunters. It’s all I’ve used for my 20+ deer.

That is beautiful, I never would have thought of hackberry as a knife scale, but that turned out just gorgeous. Great work.

Mate I read all the comments, I just dont get some people. How you achieve your Art is immaterial, what you use, what you can afford maters not. The things that mater are did you enjoy yourself, You can see you did. Did you create something unique and different, Most defiantly. Did you do it your way, "Hell Yer" and thats all that maters. Some of the wankers who commented need to go get lives mate. Thank you for taking the time to show us how and what you can do. Bless Dave

I like the matte finish on the scales contrasted with a high shine on the bolsters. You encouraged me to try this on an old 110 that I have. I have some finely curled maple that I want to finish like an old muzzleloader.

I've done curled maple wood as well. It's a great choice. Good luck!

Even today will be hanging out with my friends and they bring them out at our cookouts ! Makes you feel good your friends are so proud of them !

Lot of criticism here. Chill people. Anyway... I have a knife very much like this one. Imitation I think. But it was my Fathers. He had it for a very long time, and its seen a lot of use. He passed in 2007, and Ive had his knife since. I'd like to restore it. One of the scales is missing al together. I think Im going to repin it as well though. Thanks for the tutorial!

Awesome job man. When you are hand sanding it down will the sand paper scuff up the bolsters? and if so can you buff the scuffs back out or just need to be careful?
@rushtonworks91863 жыл бұрын
Yes, you sand across the bolsters so you know your scales are flush with them. If you do it right you cannot tell where the scale ends and the bolster begins. If you start with 80-100 grit you end with 1000-1200 which allows you to then polish the bolsters just for a nice mirrored shine.-good luck!

@rushtonworks91864 жыл бұрын
@@larryalbritton4762 didn't mean to sound defensive but some comments make it seem that you have to have pins. You do not. I used a generic two part apoxy and if you clamp then overnight it really holds well. If you're using deer horn scales try to cut them just larger than the bolsters so when you sand them flush you don't take off the pattern. Good luck!
