Def would not buy mystery box. I feel it’s money wasted when you have zero clue what you you’re buying to resell for profit. The one and only mystery box Ive purchased and listed to sell has sat for over a year with only 1/10 items sold. It’s a no for me lol

I was also going to say (I left a previous comment but my computer was not allowing me to edit my comment) that in terms of ThredUp, I would highly, highly, highly recommend that people do their research before sending items in for consignment via a clean out kit. The last one that I sent in took I would guess about 4 months for them to process once they received the box. A lot of what I had sent in the clean out kit was NWT Free People and Anthropologie items along with a small handful of other brands. I believe there were about 20 items in the box and all but 1 of them sold. In the end, my final payout ended up being less than $100 which is insane to me since neither Free People or Anthropologie items are inexpensive to purchase retail. And what I sent in was not just relatively lower priced bralettes ~~ there were a few pairs of jeans, sweaters, a vest, shoes, etc. So I was seriously disappointed and vowed that I would never ever bother with ThredUp again. Plus it takes a decent amount of time before your payouts are even released to you.

Absolutely! I am surprised that your Free People and Anthro didnt sell though. Thats good to know. I used to occasionally send in kits when I really had a volume business model and payouts "used to be" okay. Now, Thredup is my absolute last resort haha.

I bought a liquidation box from you about a year ago and sold everything pretty quickly! However, I recently bought a mystery box from a liquidation company and in 4 months have sold 1 item...definitely will not purchase again haha

I saw another reseller video and she had a warehouse full of pallets. It was too much IMO. She was overwhelmed and had a lot of overstock. You need a garage or storage unit for pallets, otherwise it's not worth even buying. And there's a reason all those pieces are returned.

Thredup has changed. They charge $14.99 for the clean-out bag. When you sell, they deduct it from the amount.

I have personally sold a couple mystery boxes several years back (when Poshmark users were more plentiful and sales were more consistent). I have also personally purchased a couple of mystery boxes and was hugely disappointed in every single box. A lot of them were junk items that really had zero resale value or had undisclosed flaws in the items. So I would never personally purchase another mystery box unless it was from someone that I had more knowledge about. And honestly, when you think about it from a purely business standpoint, no one is going to put anything fantastic or that would command a high resale price because they would list those items in their own closet or store front. I think not so mystery boxes are much better because you at least know up front what specific items you are purchasing or at the very least, the basic types of items and brands you could receive inside the box. While there is still some risk element involved in this type of box, it is far less than an actual mystery box. And correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe there is any sort of buyer protection on Poshmark for mystery boxes so if you end up getting junk or flawed items that were not disclosed, you are simply out your money.

Ohhh, I completely agree with everything you said! Perch! The only time Ive done a mystery box ... was a pallet at the beginning of my reselling journey from B&G Trading ... mistake. Totally agree that most mystery boxes on poshmark are typically not desired items which is why they are listing them anyways. I personally could never do that either... because I would never want to give someone my "junk." I rather send those items to Thredup and take the loss. Ohhh, thats a good question! I am actually unsure of the buyer protection with that. But, that would be scary!

Hey there! Pricing completely depends on many different factors: condition, comps, sell through rate, brand, style! The first thing I would do if I was looking to see how to price is solds though :) Hope this helps!
