How to reset a disposable mousetrap that say's do not re-use!

Fight the man, haha don't keep buying these because they tell you that you can't re-use it. These things can be used over and over again with very little effort.

There’s plenty more reasons to purchase this kind than merely not having the stomach to see a dead mouse. I purchased it because i have cats and don’t trust having snapping traps, sticky pads or poison pellets around them

Absolutely true, I use them in my chicken coop for that reason. I was going by the packaging where the big selling point was the fact the you didn't have to see the mouse.

Absolutely... I had a dog several years ago that found a mouse that had eaten decon and was dying. After playing with it smh she ended up being poisoned also. Even after multiple trips to the vet, they couldn't save her 😞. I don't wish that on anyone

I always wondered how this trap worked. Got one of these years ago when we were having mouse problems. My roommate saw that the indicator said that a mouse was caught and thought it had sprung on accident, and tried to open it back up. The smell the trap let out let him know he was mistaken.

These traps are much cheaper now. $4.99 for two where I live but … there are way better just as cheap re usable ones that aren’t a pain in the rump. I respect this vid/info bc some people may only have access to this particular designed trap. Good luck with your mouse hunt 🙂

I bought 6 tonight they came in sets of two almost 6$ a pair. FOUR IF THEM WILL NOT SET. I have two set out with multiple glue and a few wooden. I am terrified of mice and rats and some were in kitchen yesterday. It’s awful. These I thought were going to great I have pets. And a four year old. But useless so far. And one I set down very gently went off just by sitting on floor. I reset it hopefully it won’t go off prematurely

Had one of these and a Tom Cat humane trap set with peanut butter for the stow away living under my passenger seat. Little tawny pie bald fellow that taunted me for weeks. Well, the little fellow chose the d-Con. Sat in the driver's seat chilling, listening to the scurrying, when it snapped. Looked down, saw a few thrashes, and then silence. Threw it out a few minutes after. RIP wild mouse that got in my car somehow, probably the smidge opened sunroof.

Great Hack Man! I bought decon & put it all over & they just come in & find & eat it & die before they get into anything, but I am worried a mouse will eat it & one of my dogs will eat the mouse before I find it though the stuff makes them dry out really quick & they don't stink up the place. Having them trapped in one place would be great.

I had that exact thing happen and it was terrible. She started vomiting blue stuff up. Even after several vet trips where he gave her something that was supposed to counteract the decon, we still weren't able to save her. I would strongly suggest NOT using decon if you have any pets around that might find the dead or dying mice

I have a mouse that has tried to sabotage one. It went in and chewed the red plastic part, then left. and it popped "not set" after. it chewed the outside too, as if to taunt me. i could barely reset it due to the damage it did. humane traps seem to work better for me. having both kinds set out, one went for the no kill trap last night. took it far away and released it away from my car by several hundred feet so it couldn't easily Hitch a ride back. the one now is tap dancing around two kill traps but won't go in

@@outofworkbum It finally got caught the other mouse last night..... in the non-kill trap. Dunno what dcon has done to these kill traps but they aren't working for the mice around here in Arizona. They refuse to go in them. I almost felt bad about it last night. It's been hanging around in my RV oven. I got a bright work light and opened the oven door last night because it was going in here at night. and it wandered up and looked right at me with thr bright light like "yes? what do you want?" not really very scared of me. Just sniffing curiously. A little grey mouse. I just closed the door back gently after it went back in. I didn't want to drive it away from the traps, after all. This morning, sure enough, it's in the non-kill trap. So it gets to do a little off roading in a classic VW baja bug before being let out.

Make sure that the small red prong sticking up is further out than the rest of the red piece. Otherwise it won't stay set!

I just paid over $9 for the pack of two at Rite Aid in PA. Maybe because I got them at Rite Aid instead of a big store. I just didn't check the price online to compare. I heard these types of items are usually less expensive at hardware stores🤷‍♀️

These things suck. Only got these today since Walmart didn't have any traditional traps. One went off as I was placing it under a shelf and I can't reset it? What a screw job for people. Thanks for making the video!

Drew Tesch yeah you can. I thought so too but you just keep trying and it’ll stay set and worked great on one so far but o think I’ll just throw it away because I have other traps set and they’re different style too

Yeah, mechanically there is nothing stopping it from being reusable, so long as you can get the carcass out. Obviously Decon would prefer you to throw it out and buy a new one.
