The year 2024 started with hope, but quickly turned into a nightmare. In the spring, a strange sickness swept the world. People started coughing, then getting very sick. My grandma, the one who always baked the best cookies, got sick and never woke up. My grandpa, who taught me to ride my bike, followed her soon after. The world felt empty without them. Summer was supposed to be fun, but all the parks were closed. My best friend moved away because her family lost their jobs. I felt lonely and scared. Then, the fires started. The smoke filled the air, making it hard to breathe. We had to leave our home. I looked back as the flames licked at our house, and all I could think about was my grandma's cookies baking in the oven. 2024 was the worst year of my life. I lost everything and everyone I loved.

I have so many book recs but I have 2 for you. The first is Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez. It comes out April 1st and follows Samantha from Just For the Summer. Also based on the fantasy books you shared, I think you’d like The Games Gods Play. It’s out now and the sequel comes out in September or October.
