THANK YOU--I just traded an iPhone 7 for a 14, and this was ridiculously simple & EASY to understand. Very useful info for non techy people. People who are using AT&T needs this because whenever they trade in their phones they don't do proper factory reset so the phone cannot be reused thus their trade in value lowers down.

What if you already set up new phone before by signing into iCloud but on old phone you didn’t do anything except “erase all content and settings” (then asks for iCloud password), then it restarts and comes back on with the “hello” screen and choose language etc..? I didn’t choose language or go further into the phone to double check if all my stuff was wiped off, I assumed it was and I’m really hoping it is all wiped off. Would it be? Can the “hello” screen come up even if it’s not all wiped?
