1. Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following steps.
2. Turn the printer off.
3. Hold the 'go' button while turning the printer on. All panel lights should be on.
4. Release the 'go' button.
5. Press the 'go' button 2 times.
6. Pause.
7. Press the 'go' button 5 times.
8. The toner light should be off.
9. The paper light should be on or flashing.
10. Close cover. The ready light should be the only light on.
11. Turn the Printer off and on again

Hi, I have the brother HL-L2310D a newer model and it did NOT work for me. But I found a solution that worked for mine. It is a little different. How you do it: 1 Press and Hold the Power button until the machine turns off 2 Open the Toner Door 3 Press and Hold the Go button until step 5 4 Press the Power button 5 Release the Go button when the Toner, Paper, and Drum lights are lit 6 Press the Go button 9 times 7 Wait for the Toner, Paper, and Drum lights to be lit 8 Press the Go button 5 times 9 Close the Toner Door Hope it works for everyone else who couldn't get it to work through this guide.
