Think of all the sweet, comfortable miles you will get from a good pair of boots, already well worn in. Function like new, but comfort of old. Yes, the red thread was definitely a pop of color and not a bad idea at all.

Love this. I'm a subscriber of Trenton and Heath and this came up on my suggested. Heath is a proper silver fox, as a lady of a certain age I think he's damned fine. Loved watching this as Heath is explaining things and answering questions as he's going which adds a different dimension to the craft. I think the other chap in the video needs to adopt the 'assisting surgeon' stance, it's really good for getting in and engaged, also makes you look like you know what's happening even if and when you don't ;-) .

Fascinating, got my first paid og Red Wings yesterday for Christmas :D I sized down, they're hard to get on, but once on they fit, although a little narrow but I have a feeling once brokenb in they'll fit perfectly.

Because of the wedge sole it doesn’t need a shank. Where the iron Rangers because of the heal need the shank.

You know some moc toes have shanks (eg Grant Stone's, Thursday) bc people find they add stability and arch support, but you're right I've learned that they're not always put in moc toes

You need to heat both parts in the same time, for instance under '' flah oven'', but also with the heater sitting on the bench, to free your both handsp

Best is to use natural cork, and use natural glue, as wheat glue or rubber dissolution

The layers of contact cement plus glue mixed with cork on a resole prove that it doesn't matter if your soles are rubber or leather, neither are going to breathe.

Wedge soles do not need a shank. A shank is there to keep a defined heel from collapsing.

Ok, I can't not ask this any longer. Do y'all put some sanitizer or the like on the shoes before handling them so much? I see y'all handling the soles, innards, etc., with bare hands and then you'll run your hands over your clothes, etc. No, I'm not a germophobe but I know that floors/streets are nasty. And they have liquids and such on them that we walk through.... Sorry, a horrid comment/question but things like this make me think. :)

The holes are to prevent “sink” That’s a term used in the molding industry. Sink happens in thick sections of material as the material cools it shrinks and leaves a depression in the finished material. And that can be unsightly.

I actually remember when we had several cobblers in our side of town that re-soled our shoes as a kid. It was a 10-minute process that had normally double your shoe life, at least till you were ready for the next size up.
