RESTORATION - I’m doing it brother. 50 years old and been wanting to do this since helping other guys build circle track cars just out of high school and became a sparky I stead. Just bought a 67 C-20 a couple of weeks ago to earn my chops on. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. That’s top shelf.

I watched you restore the steering wheel. I understand stand cutting the groove to stop it from cracking farther. I'm talked to you before I'm a retired truck mechanic of 37 years. A lot of people don't realize you have to drill a hole at the end of a crack on cast iron before you weld it. If you don't the crack will run from you and crack farther down the block. Thanks Pete I'm 68 years old and retired.

It's funny over the last couple of weeks I just restored a 1959 and a 1960 Thunderbird steering wheel and then I ran across your video. I did pretty much the same thing that you just did and it turned out great. Thank you for sharing

Great info Pete. I did this on my 59 chevy wheel this week. I used 3m #35887 EZ sand. I was told it was for plastic bumper repair, sanded easy. I'm going to squirt it this weekend. Wish me luck🤘

Hey pete, i was never able to see what part number the epoxy was that you used. I used a panel bond that was blue and dam thing had some kind of reaction and the whole epoxy fluffed up and was not hard at all, it was spongy after days of drying and i did use the mixer syringe and also tried hand mixing, same outcome. Can you share the part number please? I didnt see it on the description either so figured I'd ask

I think the new generation does like old classic cars, they're just all lazy as fuck and accustomed to the instant gratification. I know because I'm lazy as fuck, and I've been lazily restoring my 69 beetle for like 5 years now. Thanks to that one thing that happened last year, which I won't name cuz youtube censorship, I've had so much free time. Watching these restoration vids on youtube has given me a new kick in the ass to get it done. I'd love to try set up a shop tuning/fixing classics, since there's so few places that do it anymore.

I was about to restore the old slick style wheel on my 72 Dodge van but more I looked around the hub, I noticed the cracks were so heavy they shifted the seperate pieces of plastic from each other. what a nightmare! I had to get one of the later wheels that looked the same.

Instead of epoxy, why not use fiberglass filler? I would think it would be more mailable. I would think you could get it in there without bubbles or air pockets.

Classic cars was the big thing 20-25 years ago. Now the people who own these cars are getting old and tired of them so the aftermarket value has tanked. Even new car dealer will give you money for a credit towards a new car. Of course they give nothing and try and sell it for 3 times what you traded your classic in. I got a classic they what to give me half if that. If your lucky if you can find someone special. You have to find the right person if you can or take the beating. Right now it has been for like 7 years now is it is a buyer market.
