I have a 2008 Camry. I tried Sticky Dash Fix twice over a 2 year period. Still got sticky once parked in the sun. I finally broke down and replaced the dashboard and very glad I did. It took 5 hours from start to finish. I believe this is the best solution for this issue.

@@ericzavala7447 the car is always parked in the garage. It is a hassle to look for tree to park under every time you go out. I used a whole bottle on the 1st treatment and another bottle on the 2nd treatment. It would only last about 10 to 20 total hours in the Oklahoma Sun. Thats about 1 to 2 hours of exposure per-errand. My wife retired and the car is not driven that much. So, the car just set in the garage which is not good. I just sharing my experience. Unless you live in a cooler climate in Oklahoma and if you plan on keeping the car for a long time just change the dash. Yes, it looks like a scary job, but just take your time, mark every wire connector and make checklists. You will save 1500 to 2000 dollars from the sealership.

You did a good job! I bought a 2009 Camry Hybrid in 2016 with same issue. Looked online and they still had a recall that you had to apply for. I got an email from Toyota about a week or two later and they gave me two dealers where I could take it and get a new dash for free. I would search for anyone with same issue, but I think it expired. Crazy that they had this problem in the first place.

I just had the stereo replaced in my 2006 Toyota Solara and I got my car back with several cracks in the dash. I know it was not the installer's fault. The car is 18 years old and known for this dash problem (I got the same sticky issue with the steering wheel and radio volume knob). Appreciate the video.

Thanks so much. My 2011 Camry was very sticky, and this product worked very well. I used dental floss to get a cell phone mount off, and it didn't take any of the dashboard with it. I did two layers of paint. Could have done a third. Def had to do the 2nd layer and be careful with streaks. I worked from one side to the other as best as i could. $50 and a 2-week delivery had great paint color match. Wish I could figure out how to upload my before and after photos.

The drying process didn’t take very long at all and in terms of paint coats, I probably could’ve done more. it’s pretty thin stuff so I would actually recommend more coats than what I did.

It wasn’t a recall. That would have been too much like doing the right thing and would have cost Toyota loads of money. Instead they did what they called a ‘warranty extension’ is what I’ve found out. That means no notification sent out to the many people with the affected vehicles. People would have had to go to a dealer and bring it up. Very underhanded by the company if you ask me. I’m stuck with a shiny dashboard that reflects on the window and makes it very difficult to see when the sun is out. I’m on KZbin looking for a solution.

I recall it says in the instructions not to paint over the passenger airbag seams. I was looking to do this myself and was wondering if you worried about that at all?
@solostudios31605 ай бұрын
I didn’t paint across any factory seems as the dash is all one piece. I definitely would use precision around the seams, but the paint is so thin, and the rubber dashboard is so melted already that the paint likely wouldn’t make much of a difference as long as you don’t let it pool in the cracks.

So, after about a year, it definitely looks better than used to, but I should’ve done multiple more coats. I park my car outside and it gets a lot of sun through the day so that probably doesn’t help.

@nopjack7278Ай бұрын
@ginasantamaria7555 Exactly. A recall means Toyota had to ADMIT there are defects within their product. More importantly, recalls have NO time limit and they stay in effect for consumers to redeem the replacements at NO COST. My thoughts are Toyota issued a bulletin to whisper "oops, we messed up, we're in a sticky situation (no pun intended), but we really don't want to ADMIT we're at fault or spend the money to correct the issues". Toyota, YOU have been exposed!
@nopjack7278Ай бұрын
@@solostudios3160No, no, no, no...that is not true. Recalls stay in place indefinitely, they DO NOT EXPIRE.
@markgilmore8136Ай бұрын
What’re you talking about? Yes you’re right recalls are active as long as the vehicle exists however some recalls have a time frame of repair to qualify for dealer replacement. UNLESS it is a SAFETY recall as they persist forever as so long the issue has not been resolved with the vehicle prior. A TSB (Bulletin) is specifically made for communication between the manufacturers and those who work the repairs so they have something as a common reference in hope to narrow down diagnosis.
