How to restore Accidentally closed all Safari tabs.

Panic !!!!!! Have you had two instances of Safari open at the same time on your IPad, and accidentally closed both, then restarted Safari only to find that you can’t access one of the Safari windows.
Worse still, like me you had dozens of tabs open for weeks and can’t even remember them.
How can you recover all these ‘Lost’ Tabs.
This short video is how I solved the problem. Hopefully it benefits others and reduce stress.

Since ios15 was installed onto my iPad, it seems that the "Reopen Closed Windows" icon has gone sadly....unless you know otherwise? It's still so easy to lose all your tabs annoyingly in exactly the way you demonstrate right at the end of your video!

I have No ‘reopen closed window’ option coming up - do you know why? If I do a hard close down, would anything change? So frustrating 485 tabs with a tonne of CPD links I need. Any ideas where this recovery button sits - I cannot find anything in settings/safari at all either.

I’m now using IOS 15 which with multiple tab groups, I think the situations has changed greatly for those who, like me, use concurrent tabs to research many reference sites thematically. I’ve now seen how to copy a whlole tab group and past the list into Notes, but would love to be able to take that copy of Muir.ple links and past them into another browser or on another IPad so that the whole set of tabs would open up simultaneously on the other device. Any thoughts?

This only works for very recent tabs that you just closed, it took me a while to find this video and at the point it was too late and I lost all my tabs I had hundreds opened and I can’t find some of the stuff I had opened anymore :((((

This is not the first time. Ever since I put on one of the early 14 updates, this happens. Two days ago Oct. 1, 2021, put on the new 14.8,. The next morning every tab was gone on my IPad. I had SOO many..I could see a few in my phone’ s history, so I added a favorite on my iPad and typed in what I saw on my phone, and all came back on the iPad. This morning, everything was gone from the iPad and the iPhone. All of my tabs. Gone again. So I managed to manually add three websites to my favorites. Then I tried your trick holding down Safari and follow these directions. They all disappeared. This is not working for me. Also, my history on the left is gone (open book icon) except for a few things I was looking at yesterday. I don’t understand, and I’m going crazy. The other thing I noticed is I have to now click the plus button or otherwise it just keeps switching one favorite and making the one I add disappear. I used to be able to just click and it would add a new favorite next to the other one. What is going on? Is this Apple or Safari problem?? I don’t have 15 yet, but I just read that once you install 15, they are hiding safari somewhere else and you have to do a new set up to save your tabs. But I am on 14.8!…not IOS 15!
