How to restore chrome on a 1953 Chevrolet (Chevy) Pickup Bumper.

This pickup bumper came to us needing re-chroming. It has also picked up a bit of damage over the years that needed repairing. Nice to be working on the original metal of a 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup.

looks real nice! Too bad I'm in the united states. I had a bumper rechromed. Cost me 800.00 us dollars as it was supposed to be show quality. While it was shiny, it had a lot of rough spots like trash got underneath the chrome. What causes that?

This is a great video, thanks! But what about the inside of the bumper. Doesn't it also get chromed in a dipping process like this? On many of these old vehicles the inside of the bumper would be quite visible, so I'm wondering what was done here...

Yes it does. Both sides are plated. The inside is not polished (like original) so is not as shiny a finish as the face side.
