John D. Liu and Elaine Ingham come together for a special webinar on how to restore soil biology and ecosystems!
✅ Learn more about the Soil Food Web 👉www.sfw.one/FGJC
Join us to learn about the essential work of soil and ecosystem restoration and how you can be part of the growing ecological movement! In Webinar 1, Dr. Adam Cobb explores why the soil food web is foundational to restoring ecosystem functions. Ashleigh Brown, the Education Coordinator at Ecosystem Restoration Communities, shared the goals, structure, and functions of Ecosystem Restoration Communities and illustrated how this organization is enabling people to restore whole ecosystems and regreen the earth. Filmmaker and ecologist, John D. Liu; Dr. Elaine Ingham; and Brian Vagg also joined us in this webinar.

The Soil Food Web School’s mission is to empower individuals and organizations to regenerate the soils in their communities. The Soil Food Web Approach can dramatically accelerate soil regeneration projects by focussing on the soil biome. This can boost the productivity of farms, provide super-nutritious foods, protect and purify waterways, and reduce the effects of Climate Change. No background in farming or biology is required for our Foundation Courses. Classes are online & self-paced, and students are supported by highly-trained Soil Food Web School mentors.
Over the last four decades, Dr. Elaine Ingham has advanced our knowledge of the Soil Food Web. An internationally-recognized leader in soil microbiology, Dr. Ingham has collaborated with other scientists and with farmers around the world to further our understanding of how soil organisms work together and with plants. Dr. Ingham is an author of the USDA's Soil Biology Primer and a founder of the Soil Food Web School.

"How the soil biome can make your food more nutritious" "The soil biome's potential to remediate intentional poisons/pollution." I've played several of your videos (call me a geek) and love learning about how nature, if allowed to happen can solve MANY problems. Maybe I've missed the emphasis on the above potential topics but seeing ONLY 51K subscribers to this channel after so long with generally excellent content and only, perhaps 10% likes for this video may be the effect of "preaching to choir" regarding emphasizing merely carbon capture from the air, reducing soil erosion and the profit motive to minimize farming inputs of chemical fertilizers and the "cides" vs. common agricultural industry ingrained measurements of "yield". I'm sorry I couldn't weave "tillage practices" in the previous sentence! Though often times scientifically valid, suggestions to change "standard practices" such as leaving fields fallow, confinement animal "husbandry", etc. are often view as an attack against farmers, who are relied on to "feed the world". Again, I'm sorry if I've missed a focused message on the above potential topics. In today's world, the reality of eco-terrorism combined with a growing population desiring to eat (and perhaps even garden) healthy food equated with "organic" crops or "free-range" meat may just recruit more folks into joining the movement. Their spending decisions as consumers will further nudge producers into working with nature vs. trying to tame it. With the help of yours and other educators I've come to appreciate, I can only hope that more people will adopt actual science and experimentation vs. consensus. Perhaps then (for instance) an appreciation of intelligent animal grazing on pasture that maximizes photosynthesis / carbon capture can be realized. Bringing it back home, such practices also can be a boon for the soil biome -- vastly contradicting the childish belief that animal farts are warming the planet.

Thank you, it is really inspiring to know about SFW. I was wondering how SFW can be applied to rice fields. Typically, these are thoroughly tilled after harvest and flooded with water prior to the planting season. It should be very helpful if SFW can be applied as well.

If we set up camps to do this, it would cure the housing crisis. I just bought a home 3 months ago, but would VERY much be interested in relocating to dedicate myself to this work, if housing and food were included. Doesn't have to be a house, but it does have to be good functionality wise. I do want to learn this

Great info. Can you address or lead me to an earlier video, that addresses water and moisture needs of the soil food web. I currently am in a drought and find myself watering only at the base of the plant. This leads to a 1 cubic foot area around the plant that has moisture. Outside of the watered area the soil is rock hard and bone dry. This can not be good for the soil food web. Does all soil need to be kept moist? Thank You!

The root system needs to grow if you apply a endomycrohiza to the root system it will expand do to population growth the plant will give sugars to the microb on the root system which allows it to grow the plant will grow more fibered root to supply the growth. It's like a apartment complex.

Most important thing in my own opinion is to by only organic high quality foods that the most important thing for a farmer is cash to keep going
