Do you like these vintage racing wheels...or the classic rally wheels?
@KrispyKarl75 жыл бұрын
Personally I love the vintage look for this car at least. Really digging the vintage patina look rather than making them stupid shiny. Love the content as always, can’t wait to see it when you’re done with it!

Apex Detail both look good, it’s personal preference mostly. I mean it’s a C3 as long as you don’t go crazy anything stock or close to stock look good.

Apex Detail I like the vintage wheels, great turnaround. Good tip about clear coat that stuff is strong.

I really didn’t think you would Go with chrome wire wheels ( aA detailers nightmare) 2 keep clean. But you did refurbish those 2 new

Love the vintage aftermarket wheels. Don't see them much anymore. They were not my favourite at that time (was a ss, and true spoke fan) but on your vett I think it will really make her pop.

I'm a huge fan of these American Racing Vectors I think they make any car just come to life. Now I know how to restore them TYVM. Second favorite wheel would be Cragar SS followed by Keystone Classics.

What primer, paint and clear did you use? I recently blacked out the grill, trim and emblems on my truck and getting ready for the wheels. Thanks!
@apexdetail855 жыл бұрын
Diamond Coat. The primer is just a sandable black primer.

I like the AR wheels (reminds me of the aluminum wheels on my '87 Turbo Regal) but I would've painted the inside a light grey/silver and not black - but that's just my preference. Cool vid.

Fantastic job, i have the same wheels on my buick regal..but some yahoo powdercoated them all grey..any thought how to remobe thenpowder coating from the polished parts...and whats the wheel spinning tool called...apex auto detailing tire rotator..love it

Brian, did you use 180-grit sandpaper? Can you also add the link for the tire stand!
@PetesZ4005 жыл бұрын
Loving this series. I'm curious if you could have used an acid wheel cleaner to clean things up since you were going to sand anyways? Wheels look great.
@apexdetail855 жыл бұрын
That would have been a great option...yes.
@Neur0bit5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting. Fantastic Results! Just wondering... Wouldn’t have been easier to sandblast these? Seems like you would have done it in a fraction of the time while preserving texture. Cheers.

An option...absolutely. I think it would have over restore them from what I was personally looking for.

@@FABAutomotiveDetailing Probably cause the General Lee used these wheels. But they first were made famous in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, They were on the Corvette. they were also used on K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, under the Bowling Ball Hub Caps. , and on the A -Team Van. The Vectors never go out of style.

@Piglet62565 жыл бұрын
Well it sure is better, but more sanding was needed to get it all smooth, also repair the curb damage, then after primer, sand again, then paint with base coat , sand, clear, sand , polish and coating would be my way :)
@apexdetail855 жыл бұрын
True.....they are rough and heavily textured naturally. I wanted to keep that look personally.
@shanooby43595 жыл бұрын
Well if you got the $$$ and feel like splurging just have them Powder coated. I'm guessing you can do what was done in this video for under $50.

American Racing wheels aren’t vintage... it was just a cheap wheel us hot rod guys used back then because they were cheap and the avg. Joe could afford them. They were crap.
@adero95 жыл бұрын
To each there own but those look awful and cheaply done after repaint. Good effort but the materials didn’t mesh well at all
