As an American citizen, I used to live in HCMC. I taught 6th and 8th graders maths and science full time. I unfortunately got locked out by the pandemic during a two-week trip to USA. I now live in the Philippines. But there are no opportunities to teach here, and there are several other things that make the Philippines unsuitable to me. I would love to return to Vietnam but at age 66 I am having difficulties getting a TRC. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!

They need to make it easier, I am not going to invest $130k in a country where I dont speak the language and is essentially a corrupt developing country, thats why its so cheap, but the RISK of financial failure is extremely high in countries with those conditions, but apart from that have no desire to start a business at my age. Could you elaborate more in another video of the average cost to live outside of the big cities for two retirees sharing a 2 bedroom modest home along with all utilities/grocery/phone etc costs per month in dollars? On average...not luxury living or eating. Nightlife not important. Thanks, from Canada. Seriously wanting to leave this soon to be communist country here.

As someone who has been retired years in Saigon I can’t agree more that it is a great place to retire I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the World. However I was lucky that I had married a Vietnamese otherwise that option isn’t available to most of the world’s population. They should come up with a retirement visa however they should make it fairly strict with proven assets and income so that Vietnam doesn’t end up with all the garbage of the world . 20 years ago no one would want to live in Vietnam but it is getting to the point that it is better then the west and Vietnam will end up with undesirable people from the hell holes of the world you can see it starting now .Malaysia had a good retirement scheme however they changed it now that you have to show retirement income of 80,000 USD a year out of reach for many .Thailand has more reasonable requirements and I know a few retirees that are getting tired of going every 30 days to the Moc Bia border to get fleeced and are considering Thailand even though they love Vietnam more . The one thing that one thinks when they hear the word retire is you worked hard all your life you have a pension and passive income already so that you can sit back and smell the roses . Last thing you think of is traveling to the other side of the world to invest in some kind of business. I am afraid recent events has muddied the waters as far as investing any money in Vietnam. The 2nd richest person in Vietnam a billionaire the Vietnamese Chinese business lady has been arrested and it’s not clear the crime but could end up in jail for a very long time and many around her are committing Jeffery Epstein’s in Jail . She is a big fish well connected to the Ho Chi Minh government yet she gets pinched what do you think they do to the small fishes ? I would recommend men to come and find a nice girl to marry and if you are already married perhaps dump your wife and come to Vietnam for a upgrade 😉

Marrying into a Vietnamese family just to get a visa for long stay cheap living in a dump like HCMC is my definition of last card in the pack. Far more appealing destinations in warm climates with nice beaches & clean air. And , there’s no requirement to marry anyone to stay there……why buy a cow when milks so cheap.

@@dancooper5741 Dan gets it, i see your comment Kev and first thing i think is "Western married into a communist nation?" Its weird to me and i'd love to hear Kev's thoughts on his thoughts after 10 years as MOST westerns tend to just leave and take their wife or not..back to their home town saying they can afford too. As many that marry and retire in VIetnam tend to be playing a last card I know that sounds harsh but fo rme being 8 years in VIetnam i saw it A LOOOTTTTTTT I been to over 70 wedding in VIetnam being Vnese or western + VNese, my channel i have a few recorded for this NONE of the westerns marriages which i didn't even know 80% of them just invted though a friend were pretty much hail marrying their life as they didn't have much back home. I do agree with you at end, other places to retire and better, Thailand OFFERS legal means to retire or even stay long term If someone is retiring that means they have a pnetion check thus they can afford to do so, Thailand and Laos offer means to hell even Malaysia does too i think most of them just require you to have like 1500 to 2000 a month constant income from something. And don't drink the milk in Vietnam, its sugar water dipped in salt

@@paulz6491 $2000 should be OK to be comfortable you won’t live a lavish lifestyle but should be enough for a nice 2 bedroom apartment in a expat area and eating western food that is more money .Side trips will be extra but a couple can do a trip to Thailand for around $1000 bucks for a week again not lavish but enjoyable

Healthcare: my average cost, all cash, to a dentist is $25, to a pharmacy for an infection is less than $5 (including advanced antibiotic meds.), to a hospital for a surgery is a few thousand dollars max. depending on the surgery type.
