My employer gave me a super B train one day ago. My first time to drive B double. Told me to deliver and pick up loads for the day. This video is very helpful thank you.

I work for Collins Transport in Adelaide, just as a forklift driver though but we are required to drive Prime movers hooked up to b doubles in the yard. Just reversed my first b double successfully onto the dock. Thats without even having an MR license

Some good instruction there, she's not as easy as it looks! The Aussie road freight industry is heading for a wall fast, so many of the drivers I know will be retired within the next 5 years and there's none coming in behind them. It's getting harder every year to reach MC + the ever increasing regulation, paper work, laws, wait times at depots etc etc.. Has got me buggered if I can understand why people would want to get into this industry for an average of $28/ hour ?! (2013). Something's got to give here, will we see more rail freight in the next decade or better conditions for drivers, it has to be one or the other..

William that's more than drivers get in the U.K. Probably only average around £11 $17aus an hour

The exact same thing as this vid shows can be explained differently - if that helps. I don't mean to confuse. If the headboard of the B trailer is slightly sticking out to the right when reversing, then turn steering 90deg right (3 O'clock posi), then 180 deg left ( 9 O'clock position), then centre 12 ( O'clock posi). Opposite for if the B trailer headboard sticks out to the left. I prefer the B trailer headboard method because it is closer than noticing the rear of the B trailer AND in my mind the connection is headboard RIGHT steering Right (and vice versa).

B trailer headboard right, steering right. Headboard left, steering left. Recentre to gain lines of sight to the corners of the headboard. Recentre again. I'm hypnotising myself to learn this by repetition.

@Wilson yeah its the same, just that your dolly catches up quicker, and you also have to chase it quicker to, hope that helps!

Do you only go back in a straight line for mc test? Is there any test where you have to turn the rear trailer into a gap or do you take off one trailer to do that?
@davidshepherd11075 жыл бұрын
reversing a b double into a staggered bay and reversing into a dock should be part of the test. This is immediate real life situation. It is a failure of the system. reversing a b double is a unique skill. observe the amount of steering corrections for a very experienced driver who knows what he is doing.

There wouldn't be any drivers if that was the case.

I watched a guy pull in like a snake and then put a b double put it straight down the centre of a finger dock without stopping once. He got out and smiled at us and made us feel weak and pitiful.. lol..

I am a professional truck driver, I need a job overseas,I am from south Africa,I have been driving for over ten years,somebody help please,
@mikemotorbike42836 жыл бұрын
google? phone? ask your boss? I see these questions posted from Africans. I thought usually people contact an employment centre, or research and call employers overseas? Am I missing something? And why do you 'need' to work overseas? adventure? Money? The good life? You'll be lonely, confront racism and have culture shock. Do you want to deal with that? Maybe start your own youtube channel, show your driving, and use the self promotion as an opportunity to ask other Africans who have made the move to advise you.
