Hello. I have this Zehnder and very often when I change the speed of ventilation manually to one after some time it changes the speed to two by itself.

When you change the speed on the control it will automatically return to Speed 2 after 2 hours. This is to prevent it running permanently in the wrong speed.

Hi Ibrahim, yes. Whenever you actively change the speed on the system up or down it reverts to "manual" mode, to indicate you've manually adjusted it. By clicking "auto" you take it back to the unit's default or scheduled settings (eg, standard speed).

Hello , I have got the Zehnder Comfoair Q350 for about 4 years now .Each winter the frost protection function was on (unbalancing the flow to prevent the frost) so the preheater was not used .All of a sudden this winter the preheater is working ,but I don't want it .Could you explain how to turn the frost protection on ,avoiding the preheater ? I searched throught the whole menu ,including the installer options (I sm the instaler) ,but I did not find the way to do it again .

Hi there, if you'd prefer not to use the pre-heater function then you could remove it. Please contact us for information on how to do this - it's a fairly straightforward job. However, I would keep the pre-heater running in winter. It's better that the airflow is not compromised during winter, and it is only on during very cold outdoor temperatures. It's a good fail-safe to have.

You can't - the unit will automatically aim for relative humidity of 50%, which is the healthiest humidity level for humans.

How noisy is the Q350? I am debating between the Q350 and the Genvex 300 XL. I think the Genvex is insulated, which means we can put it in the attic. Though I know the Q350 is looking good on Passivhaus rating wise, but can't seem to find the Genvex 300 XL on there to compare properly. Do you know much about the two? Otherwise maybe there's a way to sound proof the HRV unit if it's installed in a living space?

Hi there, all MVHR units are typically insulated internally (including the Q350), but you have to be careful with the heat losses via the ducting if you are locating an MVHR system in a cold attic space. I do know of Genvex systems and they are fine machines, probably comparable with a Q350 in terms of acoustics and performance. You can find the Genvex 375 ECO on the Passivhaus Institute Database but not the others. Although these MVHR units are exceptionally quiet, best practice design is to locate the unit away from bedrooms, so if in the loft above a bathroom space is best. Hi Hermas, that's unusual as it's rated very highly (almost the top performer) by the Passivhaus Institute for its acoustic performance. A loud MVHR unit could be caused by the fan duty being too high and the fans being overly strained - what ducting is it linked to, and how large is the home it's ventilating? Best wishes, Patrick
