Must agree with uilsonRJ on this. I think KZbin AI is freaking out on the words ‘Revive’ and ‘Dead’. It must think you are talking about ‘Controversial issues and sensitive events’. You probably have to apeal and ask for a human to review, but yes until then you won’t have monitization on this video. Maybe you have to start releasing video’s marked ‘private’ and change them to ‘public’ once you see KZbin has no problem with the title or content? Thank you for the video anyway ;-)

Before you do any of this try warming up your battery with a hairdryer and then try to recharge it. I had exactly the same problem with a RB18L25 (2.5Ah) Ryobi battery, it had been 'dead' for months. I read a comment on another video about the hairdryer trick, tried it just now and bingo battery took a charge and is now working again. Definitely worth trying before taking your battery apart.

Thank you for this great idea. I had a small, high capacity 12 Vdc battery available to me, so I 'boosted' each cell a couple of times. It took 2 tries but on the 2nd attempt, there was enough terminal voltage to permit the charger to take over and once again charge up the 18 volt battery. If you are going to use a drill, you don't need to open the battery, you can just drill a small hole in the "m" (+) and the "R" (-). Insert a wire in each hole and touch it to a good battery for about 30s and your defective battery will have enough charge for the charger to recognize it at the terminals again.

However, I have now bought a replacement battery and this works ok. I will try to use it more often so that it doesn't have the opportunity to die.
@TransRightsMatter5 жыл бұрын
Ryobi should have set a proper, soft low voltage cutoff point, for these batteries, so they could never enter the hard cutoff point, in the first place. I know this works form my own trouble shooting experience. The self protect feature of the charge circuit, disables the charge circuit, if goes below a certain hard voltage point. The idea is that a 18650 Lithium Battery cells can develop internal shorts if drained too low. Shorts in the battery can cause it to malfunction or even explode. I manually recharged the cells above the safety threshold to to re enable the charger circuit. This should be done at your own risk, but I have not herd of any issues.

This works for many lithium batteries, but on some, you also have to reset the electronics module for it to come out of its "broken battery" failure mode. I know it's like that with iPhone batteries. You reset it by very shortly shorting out the battery so the electronics will lose all power for a split second. You have to be really careful and short it out only for less than half a second or basically as little as possible in order to not damage the battery.
@MyPlayHouse7 жыл бұрын

I think that's my problem. The board needs to be shorted. How could I safety do this to reset
@Seegalgalguntijak7 жыл бұрын
William Joseph just short out the battery for a split second. Really, something like 0.5s or less is enough, but it won't hurt the battery. If it's deeply discharged, it won't do anything - although then, resetting the electronics doesn't make sense yet either, and if it's full, the short time period will prevent the current from ramping up too much to destroy it.
@WilliamJoseph20157 жыл бұрын
Seegal Galguntijak Sounds like a plan...how do I short it out? Method you suggest to short out the board

18650 batteries are to be considered discharged @2.5V. If you let them under 2.5V it starts to correde the lothium inside there. Most of the digital Lithium chargers have the "rest" charge voltage up to 4.35V (as my Nitecore charger). For drill unit like yours you can prefer 18650 modules hi MAh values and lower discharge maximum current, given that they are in series. It's og to go with 10A with a maximum output of 180W avaiable with the pachage. Laptops for example uses modules with 4A discharge but much higher capacity. E-vape cigarettes on the counterpart prefer very high maximum discharge currents, up to 35A (like my LG modules).
