I'm a fiber splicer out in the Bay Area of California. I just started working for my buddy's company in June so I enjoy watching your videos to see if there are any new tricks I can pick up. I was taught to ribbonize by hand but another guy on our crew loves using his jig. Keep posting I love the content!

Never compromise the quality of your work for speed. Always follow the same procedures that work for you and especially in high tractor enclosures and stuff think about future work on those buffers and trays and enclosures it’ll always keep things orderly and neat and easy to work in

@@Eatabagofahunniddicks I was taught early on to think about the next guy because most likely you will be the next guy in that case

The marks of a true fiber trailer, fiber throw counts wrote all over the table. Not even using the clips included with fat-04. Is it better to tywap the sponge in place or to pull it into the hole?
@fibersplicegod Жыл бұрын
Hahah yea I’ve always been one to write my locations out on the table helps ensure no mistakes 🙌 thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it

@@fibersplicegod I am kind of surprised that you don't use the sumitomo OFA-1 fiber arrangement tool to save time. No glue to dry
@fibersplicegod Жыл бұрын
Yea I’ve seen that tool it’s not to bad. The reason I don’t use it is because I am billing out for making ribbons so I glue them all for the customer and so I don’t get any fibers pulling through when I use my heated jacket stripper

Great video. Are you planning to show us what a fiber map looks like? And how you interpret it. I see those numbers on your work bench. Thanks.

Yes I will be breaking down everything in my upcoming online splicing coarse I will be releasing in the new year.

Woolen questions for you. How often do you change ur sponge and how do you clean that tool. I just got that tool today and am messing around with it at home today! Your videos are great btw

Hey thanks for watching and I use one sponge for the ribbonizer per location doesn’t matter if I have one ribbon or a 150 ribbons to make at that location. Then I use 99% alcohol soak a piece of paper towel and rinse out the glue
@gradyrm23710 ай бұрын
I use an older FAT that uses glue kits that require changing sponges after each ribbon. Just sent this vid to my boss. @@fibersplicegod

How often do you change the sponge ??
@fibersplicegod Жыл бұрын
I use one per splice location if ribbonizing is needed. Doesn’t matter if it’s 1 ribbon or 144 ribbons 1 sponge per location 🙌 thanks for watching and subscribing I appreciate it

The company I’m with righ now doesn’t have a ribbon splicer so I had to do a 432 mass burn today One splice at a time
@fibersplicegod Жыл бұрын
Damn yea splicing a 432 single takes some time I’ve done it a handful of times when I was splicing in Trinidad and Tobago everything there they wanted single spliced
