I've never rode the Express bus, it's quite a steep price and doesn't save that much time. SBS on the other hand is great, since you can board from all doors

not all sbs buses are articulated, like the b82sbs or the s79sbs, and during heavy snow standard buses are used

It is the same price but a new metrocard costs $1 to buy in addition to the fare. Yes, do stand close to the bus stop when you see it coming.
