As an right leg below knee amputee, the linked braking system works a treat and with a bit of engine braking , 17000 kms later on a 22 street glide, no problems. Although there’s a few s bends up my way, and in the wet you carnt see the pot holes, slowing you down a fair bit.

Another great video offering the motorcycle community some very good advice. We should all be able to ride in all road conditions good ole mother nature throws at us....the number 1 thing for me is being able to adapt to change, and that includes mindset and attitude whilst riding. Rain doesn't have to wreck your ride, but it just a part of the overall experience. Ride safe mate!!!! 😎

On the track there aren’t patches of oil, manhole-covers, lane-paint, petrol-stations on corners, or gravel, or potholes, or frozen leaves. Tyres are waaay better now than the East German Barums that came fitted to my MZ in the eighties, but remember that the middle of the lane is where all the oil drops off of cars and trucks (and shit from sheep trailers),and either side of the middle is probably dished and full of water thanks to heavy trucks and SUVs…riding in the wet is an unavoidable dance for many of us - may the music play on.

If you’re living in Melbourne those tram tracks can be deadly.. don’t accelerate or brake when crossing them.. smooth is the definitely the key 🔑 and try and cross them as close as a cross not parallel if you can avoid it. Be confident but not cocky and most importantly relax and as you say stay warm and enjoy the ride.. 😊 I enjoy the wet and I don’t mind the bike moving around underneath me.. makes you a better rider…

Great points Aymen, though this little black duck certainly doesn't like riding in the wet! Though, I recently had to ride in the rain all the way from Southern NSW to Melbourne, via Gippsland, using many of the points you've raised. Except for the tram tracks! A good learning experience. Cheers.

I did an advance motorcycle rider training course years ago. We were advised to put an extra 2psi pressure in your tyres when going out in the rain. This allows the tyres to warm up to the intended operating temperature, the wet conditions have a cooling effect on the tyres. Now, the cred bit. The training was conducted by police motorcyclist, those that also train police motorcyclist.

Slow is smooth... smooth is fast! I ride in the rain basically the same as i would in the dry! I think applying smooth inputs is generally essential in any condition. Bar when you're "having a bit of fun" but you should know when you can and can't ride a bit harder than usual considering the conditions ✌️
@philipstaite47754 ай бұрын
In my younger days I rode through just about anything. Over these last few years I've gotten caught in rain, freezing rain, fog, hail, and thunderstroms a few times. I have become a "fair weather rider" ... However, I recently moved further south - warmer weather, year round riding... But also wetter weather. The forecast has had a 30%-40% chance of rain for the past 10 days or so, and does for the next week or so. Really just means isolated rain cells moving across the area, if you happen to be under one, you get wet. I may have to amend my "fair weather" only stance and get back into accepting riding in the rain on occasion.

I'm a new rider and unexpectedly did my first ride in the rain today. My biggest concern was hitting a high spot of water. Fortunately that didn't happen. I made sure to do everything smoothly, accelerating and braking. I drove at about 52mph on a 60mph road. I'm sure that annoyed the 2 cars behind me but oh well. Once the rain let up and the road had better traction I left those 2 cars behind. All in all it wasn't bad but I still prefer not to ride in the rain. It sucked to get all my gear soak and wet.
