So that capacitor is like a flywheel in essence right? So if you were to mount a flywheel on it then you don’t need that right?

Basically yeah, its just a way to store some extra energy for the starting load so yes technically you could use a heavier flywheel and that would be another way to store some extra energy :)

Experimental Fun its harmfull for our air....burning plastic isnt good...better to recycle the paper and plastic...all recyable...not burning...not solution!
@Chuck_Huckler6 жыл бұрын
If your lid keeps popping off, you've got too much pressure in the line, likely due to having your line submerged too deep. Instead of drilling a bunch of holes in the lid and losing half the gas, i'd suggest buying some five or ten pound iron weights, the sort meant to be used on a bench press bar. They're small enough to stack on top of eachother without getting in the way, and there's a convenient hole right in the middle which would allow your copper tube through. Five or so of those and you likely won't have issues with popping your lid anymore. Also, try replacing your first flashback arrestor's water with vegetable oil, it'll likely catch more of the particulates as the bubbles rise through it. To filter the gas even more using the oil, pinch the end of the line to create a nozzle and decrease the size of the bubbles. The increased surface area will give more particles a chance to fall into the oil. Also, for your second filter/arrestor, i'd try using water with ice in it. The garbage you're burning likely has a lot of water vapor in it, but the gas will have cooled a lot as it passes through the tube and the oil, so if you pass it through icy cold water after that, some of that water vapor may condense out and not make it to the engine. If you'd like to cool the gas even more, try running a coil of the tube through a two-liter bottle full of water before it reaches the oil. Just cut the top off and seal the bottom hole with epoxy. Just a note, the oil being used as an arrestor/filter will probably eventually turn into a sludge that can also be burned to cook more trash. I'd love to see this small setup running more efficiently, and i think if you take a look at a channel called "oil burner" you'll find a number of methods of using the waste oil (and that blower) to cook more gas. In the future i wouldn't bother using a blower on an open fire like that, as you're better off just punching holes in the bottom of the outer can to allow natural airflow through. Your fuel will burn cooler and last longer, and it won't be so rough on your setup, which i saw glowing red there. And judging by the sound of that engine, i think it can produce more power than that, especially if it has more gas to work with. Try adding a gearbox to get more speed out of the rig.

Couldnt you use larger diameter copper tube and larger mason jars for more efficiency?
@BolinFoto7 жыл бұрын
Cooling of the gas is more important than the diameter of the pipe. Hot gas is less dense, so if you cool it down you'll get more gas in a smaller space. The particles are the problem they clog up the engine but you can easily just filter it through some sawdust. Of and the more water in the fuel the more water in the gas and "Wet" gas is not as efficient but that can be remedied using an expansion tank where the water can precipitate out of the gas and collect at the bottom.

But the energy released by the fuel is equal to the energy required to make the fuel and quite a bit of energy would be lost in form of heat and leaks. Electrolysis isn't an efficient way of powering a motor, unless you don't have an electrical motor (or not one powerful or efficient enough).

a better rule is; in the big can, anything that burns and in the small can, anything that used to be wood.
@byebye97856 жыл бұрын
Actually, if you ensure the small can is airtight so it doesn't burn and you get it hot enough, you can make a fractional distillation column and feed it from the small can and get various hydrocarbon fractions out of it from tar to gases, with diesel/petrol(gasoline) type fractions inbetween. putting plastic in the small can would likely yield both suitable fuel and lubricant for the engine. Of course you need to utilise (or capture/store for others to use) all the fractions for it to be environmentally sound.

suggestion: if you added water to your reactor, and then pressurized it such that the temperature was allowed to reach 800 degrees before starting to bleed of gas, it would crack the carbon chains and water to create a hydrocarbon and carbon dioxide. this is in addition to the wood gas you're currently extracting. the waste stream at the end would be almost non existent. one further note, this type of modification would be able to easily crack plastics into fuel also. plastics are a particularly rich source of hydrocarbons.

And also I would use a Rocket type stove, and not stuff the air inlet with fuel, That is why I am seeing when you start it up and turn on the blower the fire comes out the air intake.
