Just bought an S80 D5 executive 2013 and absolutely love your content! I had a nightmare with my previous car, an 09 Alfa Mito Lusso and really want to learn to do some basic Maintainance myself. You’ve already taught me about flushing the coolant and cleaning the inlet manifold. All the best with the channel!

Excellent video and advice. What is the Amazon part info? I want to order one for my 2011 3.2l S80
@kanesfist98953 жыл бұрын
Do they do a trial version. For those of you looking for transmission temp I think the only one is vida. I believe the others just pick up coolant temp even though it says transmission temp e.g torque pro

Hi sorry In a bit of a hurry and didn't read much about the Veepeak, But is it also bidirectional. can I work on my car ot will the brakes lock up or can I put it in service mode and rip out my dash without my airbag lights blowing up. Cheers, Sounds like. nice piece of software if I can stay ahead of my problems. thanks

Get yourself VIDA and a DiCE unit from eBay! Best thing I got for my Volvo! It’s dealer level diagnostics, it’s really the only way to see everything and fault codes a normal scanner won’t pick up.
@lars53063 жыл бұрын
Alternatively vxdiag vcxnano also works wonders and doesnt cost an arm and a leg. Works just fine with VIDA and VDASH.

@@lars5306 or just get VIDA and a DiCE unit from eBay for about £60 for everything and it works wonders.

@@Alexander_l322 cheapest one on ebay is £117 and thats from china, cheapest one in this country is £130, I got my VCXnano for £40 from Aliexpress and like Lars says it works fine. for some reason the knock off dice units have gotten harder to find and more expensive than they used to be.
@Alexander_l3223 жыл бұрын
@@asummers5234 I paid £65 for mine from eBay
@asummers52343 жыл бұрын
@@Alexander_l322 Im sure you did, you wouldnt pay £65 for one now though you would pay £120ish. If somebody was looking to buy one now they would better off with the vxnano, its 1/3 of the price and so far I havent found anything a Dice would do that this cant.

How did the mot go? Is the light misting of oil on rear shock absorber one of the parts that you replaced previously?

The no temperature gauge on the dash drives me nuts, the P2 had it. Plus the lack of backlit lighting on the dash is mental otherwise a great car. Another great video. I have Bluedriver obd, but doesn’t seem to read my Volvo that deeply. Do you know are the various apps able to link with different old readers ? I love my 2008 P3 D5 Estate but here in Italy you can’t drive them in cities at all at certain times of day, a blanket ban, just crazy for a 13 year old car. Just bought a 2011 mk3 focus 1.6td for the missus and it’s great.... after a terrible experience with an ‘03 Mondeo I swore I’d never buy one. So my Volvo has to go with the COVID situation, but with the new Euro4 restrictions it’ll be hard to sell for such an amazing car.
@samjackson77013 жыл бұрын
I found this ridiculous as well when I purchased my 3.2L P3 S80. Why would you ever REMOVE a diagnostic feature, especially one that can be absolutely essential in troubleshooting an overheating car? I ended up purchasing a generic, 'always-on' diagnostic tool for my car that just sits and pairs with my phone whenever I drive... But still, it's absolutely and utterly ridiculous that they would remove something like that.
@toneranger3 жыл бұрын
@@samjackson7701 totally. Good idea for the real time mobile read out. In the V90 they removed the 40/20/40 split rear seats which again makes no sense, it's 40/60 now. Going backwards on the details Volvo

Looks fine for diy. Will the Garage Pro release the electric handbrakes to change the pads/and or discs please ?
@sandymcintosh3 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question. I'd be interested in that too :)
@idigbebop2 жыл бұрын
Here’s an option to release the parking brake. Unplug the brake caliper electric connector. Notice there are two elec pin blades on the brake side receptacle. Hook up a small 12 volt battery ( UPC size) with alligator test leads to the blade pins. The electric plunger will back out to release the parking brake. It’s either in or out depending pin polarity.

Please can you do a video on how to change the cabin air filter as all the tutorials I’ve found are for left hand drive not right hand drive.
@Alexander_l3223 жыл бұрын
It’s quite easy, it’s on the passenger side behind the trim on the side of the transmission tunnel, it unclips then you take it out of the way. You then find the black rectangular box and it will have 2 or 3 clips that you press to get it to open and inside will be the filter. Pull out the filter anyway you can(it’s tight) then vacuum the filter housing. Note the direction of air flow( an arrow on the filter will tell you) face the arrow point towards the inside of the car. Getting the filter back in is not hard but it’s so tight to get in so you squash the filter up and try to shove it back in the housing! I did it like this and it fitted and works well but be careful not to push the filter too far in as it should sit about flush with the filter housing opening. Then get the cover and get it clipped back in place(again tight but do able) and finally get the side trim back in which is the easiest bit of the job!

Went on amazon to purchase the odb reader. There is a BLE and a BLE+ . Would the + version be better? And the software app. you use at the start/1st app garage pro. Is this better for volvo cars thanks.

I got a Veepeak BLE+ and it is not working with a iPhone 7, iOS 14+. Or an iPad Air. The bad part seems it needs Internet, which is iffy in front of my garage. So not happy with it at the moment. I registered and all, but the internet dependency is detrimental to the user experience...
