US short haul is 150 miles out and 150 miles back. Starting and stopping at the normal place of domicile or business. Daily run from Charlotte to Columbia and back. No elog device required, however the driver must annotate the start and stop times in some form or manner and still adhere to 11 hour drive time or 14 hour duty day, 10 hour rest break. NO 30 minute break required for US short haul.

How is going my friend? Been watching your channel for a few years, I am semi retired but thinking seriously about buying a box truck for my son, I am actually bidding on one right now, but just want to let you know, you are a real brother and your wealth of knowledge is truly a blessing.👍

When at a drop are you still considered on duty and the clock is still running or does your time stop ?
@BiggVicАй бұрын
On duty unless you are taking your 30 minute break while waiting to get loaded. Clock is running regardless of how long the shipper takes to load you.
@jamesdixonjr7677Ай бұрын
@@BiggVic clock is continuous whether on duty or break. Break doesn’t add back 30 minutes to your time. Once the truck detects movement over 5 mph, your duty day begins. Either 11 hours of drive time or 14 hours on duty (which doesn’t stop after 5 mph is detected). I don’t see how people do 3am Amazon load then say they caught a 3pm Amazon load.
@CmgkingofmemphisАй бұрын

You should of went into split sleeper berth and you could of explained recaps too. Other than that good video!

Most of us don’t have sleepers. Quick KZbin search though!! Drop the explanation down below good fella!! 👍🏾😬.

@@BiggVic I didn’t know you don’t have to take a 10 hour break. Granted you’re just going off duty instead is being in sleeper berth but if you’re trying to help out, why wouldn’t you explain to those that actually have sleepers you. I was actually trying to help you out. I guess you don’t use recaps either. The same way most people don’t have sleepers is the same way I have sleepers is the same way they don’t use ELD’s so why explain?
@jamesdixonjr7677Ай бұрын
The 30 minutes doesn’t count towards the 11 hours of drive time. You can drive 11 hours or be on duty 14hrs. Non driving task such as loading/unloading, fueling can be considered the “break”.
@jamesdixonjr7677Ай бұрын
@emergingsea8857 again, it’s not officially break time i.e. coffee and tea. The rule is to break from driving or operating the vehicle within the first 8 hrs. You’re correct, it will reset after the system recognizes the vehicle is stationary for a period of 30 minutes after which point the driver started driving for the day. So for the record, you can drive for 2 minutes at the beginning of the day to get to the shipper and it takes 30 minutes to load your truck. Then you have 10 hrs and 58 minutes you can drive without stopping again.
@jamesdixonjr7677Ай бұрын
@emergingsea8857 it’s not a break. It’s 30 minutes of non-driving activity. Do what you want during that period of time so long as it’s not driving and it’s accounted for during the first 8 hours of driving.
@CmgkingofmemphisАй бұрын
Seem like the 30 minute break should only come odd shift time since u not driving on 30 minutes break
