What if you have to turn sharply enough that you can no longer see the trailer in your convex mirror? I drive a daycab so I can cheat and look out the back window but you can't do that in a sleeper.

I always go straight out as far as I can, and then cut to the right. If its a sharper turn I will sometimes get the tractor all the way over into the lane to my left whether its an oncoming traffic lane or not to make sure my trailer will clear any ditches/signs/power poles

What if there's alot of vehicles preventing you from getting onto the oncoming lane or the left lane?

@@IWU447 I just wait with my signal on until theres an opening. Its true that most people are too self-absorbed to understand the reason for waiting but occassionally youll get someone, possibly a fellow trucker, who understands the dilemma and will either back up or give a block of traffic so you can make the turn. I just let people blow the horns and lose their minds until its safe for me. Aint but one steering wheel in my truck and its in my hands, not theirs

@@moroteseoinageit helps in the learning process, and they showed one but cut it off halfway through the turn for some reason.

If the left hand turn lane is blocking your right hand turn. How would waiting for them to have a green allow them to get out of your way to proceed forward? They'd be stuck, because their opposite traffic(who has the right away before they do) would no doubt pull up behind you, waiting for you to move. And they can't make their left because now those cars are blocking. The only option at some intersections is to wait for them to back up. Especially if they're beyond the white line, like we all know they do.

I was told in trucking school that when the yellow line hits your wiper blade, cut the wheel hard to the right

@Josevatz293 If its a 1ton truck by its self, whitout a trailer then no. If you are pulling a 40 foot goose neck or 5th wheel trailer then yes. It also depends on the truck wheelbase configuration such as short bed, long bed, or long bed with 4 door. For example I have a chevy 3500hd dulley flatbed. Short wheelbase allows a very tight turning radius unlike a ford king ranch f350 4door long bed.

Split the lanes and youll make the turn with nobody trying to cut.. hog the dam road
