I like the using the hand tongs to set the springs, a nice set can be purchased for less than $20. Just don’t order them too short, the longer the easier to use.

Why in the HAY-ELL would you have a protocol for using your hand to set off the trap????? How about a stick? Then you don't have to remember "thumb in hand down" you just remember: use stick; keep fingers.

How do you remove the latches on the springs so easily at the end? On mine, the tension on the spring is so tight I can't even move that latch let alone remove it.

Try to move the latch towards the coil it should loosen it self. But be slow and careful and dont have your fingers near the frame.

I can't even squeeze the spring together by hand, and after the spring just jumped sideways and pinched my finger, I'd prefer not to break my fingers. Does anyone know how much actual force these snap shut with?
