I'm not sure how it works for residents but if I fly to the mainland I don't need negative just coming back to hawaii because hawaii requires negative test but not anymore after july 8th. So complicated lol

Just back from Kauai, a ten day trip, tested with UCSD for the Safe Travels Covid test, $125 each, timely return on results and smooth system for it. Kauai was awesome, most things we wanted to go to were available, people wore masks in buildings and public places, but not on walks or beaches. It wasn’t crowded anywhere which was nice. Any questions? Ask me! Happy to help. Oh and you get your QR code once you test negative but no official exempt status...for Kauai, upon arrival we showed our QR code and then they gave us this little raffle ticket, which we showed to get out of airport and that was it! So simple for all the worry I had over it. No daily check in on the safe travels site, that’s for those in quarantine.

Thanks for the detailed information. I've seen a lot of videos about this and still question the timing. I've seen a few videos where their test results were listed under EST making the the timing a few hours off, etc. forcing them to change their plans. I wasn't aware the rapid tests were accepted. Thanks for that.

@@charlenemiller9147 hi! it was very, very easy and smooth! i didn’t go with the rapid id one because they didn’t offer it at my local walgreens, so i went with the pcr test. the rapid id one will work though! the only one that won’t work is the antigen one because it isn’t an NAAT test. i would also like to mention that the pcr test might as well be the rapid one because i got my results pretty fast lol! hope this helps 😇 if u have any other questions, i would be more than happy to help u!!

Hi, your video is very informative however I’m still confused about the time zones. I’m traveling from NJ to SF have an overnight layover and the last leg is Monday 8a. So doesn’t that mean I have to take a test Friday 11a est time? Thanks in advance

The important piece is to have a test come back negative before your last flight. So, you need to have a test within 72 hours of the last flight (the Monday at 8am in the time zone you are leaving from, so California)

The ID now is a NAAT test, the antigen test with immediate results is not applicable but Walgreens said the IDNOW test results will be available in less than 24hrs. It’s advertised as $129 but I was reading on Reddit that some people were never charged and received the results within 24hrs. I’m so excited to visit Hawaii again and I hope this whole thing goes smoothly. I love on the west coast and my airline offers the IDNOW NAAT test with results available at 2pm the next day, but it’s for sure $170 out of pocket.

I think it depends on the type of rapid test. It just has to be a NAAT test. I know Walgreens has an ID now test that is approved by the state and you get your results within 24 hours.

The typical rapid test is not approved but Walgreens has a rapid 24 hour test called ID NOW that is an NAAT test that still goes to the lab for results. The ID NOW is approved by Hawaii since it’s a NAAT test

We’re just back and we used UCSD for our tests, highly recommend. Cost $125 each, they got our 6 results back in about a day, and the Safe Travels form shortly after that.

You do not need to register your hotel. Some businesses will take temperatures, but not COVID-19 tests.

Prior, you cannot do anything on the island. If you missed prior you will be stuck in 10 day quarantine and they're extremely strict.

I'm going on the 29th of March and I just booked it ahead of time and booked the covid test like 3 days before. So it does mean you have to be careful to not get the covid within the time period

You can book as many days in advance as you want. But, you do risk coming back with a positive result for your COVID test and being declined entry. We booked the trip many months in advance before this was a step you had to do.

I'm supposed to be moving to the Big Island on June 1st and I have now heard that Igi is announcing that tourist might need to be vaccinated by or starting in May so what does that mean that I'm forced to take a vaccine? Rant time! 1) I worked for an airline for 6 years, So I am obviously exasperated by the lack of consistency here. So it’s ok to travel that many hrs to Hawaii seating Right Next to somebody who will take the mask off at some point, but not ok to take the mask off in so many places inland? Why not just honesty to say masks don’t do anything, enough with the double standard CDC! 2) Hawaii, what a rip off! So double testing traveling Inter-island? Hawaiian culture ripoff culture to the visitor at its best! 3) I hope the “ invisible hand” ( the market) takes care (wipe out) abuses in the market. Maybe after Hawaii’s travel industry is brought down to their knees, they can shed some pride.
