Lost someone very dear and special to me. I was with her for several years when we both got into sobriety. We broke up due to a road that she was going back down to that I couldn’t bare to watch. I’m married and have a beautiful son now with my wife. My ex died and I attended the funeral today. It’s sooo hard and confusing to navigate the emotional state that I am in. I felt like I could have done more to help her but I had to leave. I didn’t want to get sucked back into that lifestyle. Her best friend at the funeral told me she loved me so much. I loved her so much too. She died at 29 and a part of me died that day. It doesn’t feel right and fentanyl is the worst thing to come into existence. I wish I was stronger then to be able to help in the way she needed. Two weeks ago I had a feeling to call her but felt it wouldn’t have been right and brushed it off. Hardest lesson learned….
