Great result on the wheels and especially the spokes Rob 👍🏼 I followed your process on plastic restoration and got excellent results mainly with the wool polisher. Its a Suzuki TF imported from S.A. In yellow of course 😉

Good idea but I will say that the amount of pressure I apply to the rim make no marks. These RM rims are very hardy but why not if you’ve got them use them! Thank you

To check if evenly tight, tap the spokes with a screwdriver and listen to the musical note..
@MyRestoration1Ай бұрын
@@garyhoward4064 aah the note. I listen for the 5th harmonic and then the descending thirds on the longer side at 443 hrtz 👍🤪

Great stuff and well presented (apart from the odd sound issue!) I assume that the spokes were plated steel and my only concern is they will tarnish very easily - maybe.
@MyRestoration12 ай бұрын
Thanks. I wasn’t aware of and sound issues..but I’ll review. Regarding the spokes. I’ve done a few like this over the years and so far they all still look fresh and new which is why I’m thinking they are stainless steel which was corroded but we will see in a few years!

@@MyRestoration1 Fingers crossed! The sound issue was when you were wielding the MAPP gas and talking at the same time! 🤭

Hi rob,i watch all your videos,great content, i have an 89 rm 125 to restore,whats the best way to clean the rims up rob? I will do the spokes as you have,but your rims looked a bit better to start with than mine do,any tips, Thanks mate, Rick
@MyRestoration1Ай бұрын
If the rims are scuffed then I’m afraid that’s it. Just wash them with degreaser and you can squeeze a bit more out with metal polishing paste. They are so rare you won’t be judged too harshly!
@rick79991Ай бұрын
@MyRestoration1 Hi rob,thanks for your reply,i wasnt sure if you sanded yours or used dremel to smooth the rims etc,but thats fine,i will follow your advise and polish,they may come up,i watched your recent video,and they are looking just great,always look forward to your next video rob, Cheers,rick👍

@@rick79991if you look at the Royal Enfield series there is a video where the thumbnail is showing a a rim being cleaned. That’s as bad as it gets. You get a bit more there. Best of luck and thanks for your compliments 🙏

Done hundreds of wheels. Motorcycle and bicycle. You need to get them round first. Side to side is easy. Work gently avoid tightening any one spoke Oi

My spokes on the rear wheel started to corrode, so I removed the corrosion, but now there's no zinc (or whatever) protecting the spokes, how can I protect those spokes without disassembling the rim? Honestly it's a little Sym Wolf 150cc, it's just a runabout and not worth spending hundreds of dollars on, but I do like it and do want to use it indefinitely.
@MyRestoration12 ай бұрын
@@CrapKerouac sure you can. Years ago someone told me that if I don’t want my tools to rust then rub bees wax on them. He wasn’t wrong..
@CrapKerouac2 ай бұрын
@@MyRestoration1 Wow, bees wax? I was thinking of buying clear coat in a rattle can, but bee's wax would be an easy fix. Thanks a lot, great advice.

I just take the easy way out. I just go and see my mate Geoff at the car tyre place, who, for a chippy dinner, will stick them on a professional tyre 'Iron Man' machine, and have a pair of old tyres off in under a minute... ...does this make me a bad person? 🤔
