@ Ashlee Falco -- Wowzer!!!!! I paid how much for a create your own svg course that I can't even finish because it is too difficult?! I watched this without taking notes and could understand but not implement. But I will watch again with my pen and paper because I AM a note taker and it is so obvious that these are simple instructions to follow. One question: I use a pc, are the keyboard shortcuts specific to a mac or specific to inkscape? Subscribed btw!
@ashleefalco9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the sub. I'm assuming the command key on a PC would be the windows key. But one way to view was the short cut keys are is view them in the Inkscape program. If you go all the way to the top of your screen you'll see "file, edit, view, layer, etc". If you click on, let's say path, you'll see the name of the operation and then on the left you'll see your shortcut keys. Hopefully that's helpful.

Omg ... I did not know the largest piece ended up in front 🙈 sometimes know those small things helps so much!! Thank you!!

I wish that the largest pieces weren't sent to the front. It really messes with everyone. BUT beggars can't be choosers LOL Inkscape is free, so I'll take the head scratcher LOL

Right?!? 😂😂😂 Now I will be converting more things without wondering .... "how do I select that little piece?" Thank YOU!

Perhaps this is a convenient opportunity to advice all Cricut users who watch this video that they should start learning Inkscape in order to create their own stuff for Cricut. The entire process should be the other way around. You create in Inkscape, save as SVG and upload to the Design Space. I never create anything in the Design Space. That's how most seasoned Cricut users do. You can use any other vector program to do the same. Many use Illustrator. I am personally a Corel Draw guy. This way you will be able to use all your creative work for any other non Cricut related application. Vector programs will give you infinite creative possibilities, unlike very limited Design Space.

@@rd-gi6jw I 100% agree with you. Personally I do all my designing in Inkscape (have several other tutorials of me using this program). Not many people know how to design outside of design space. I'm hoping by posting a video like this will encourage others to watch my other Inkscape videos and be inspired to start using other programs. It's so much easier to design in Inkscape and upload your own svg files to wherever you need to go versus taking the LONG way of doing the design work in cricut and then going backwards from there.

@rd-gi6jw ... I agree 100% ... I had some projects that I had created in Design Space and I have been moving them over to Inkscape. It's such a great tool for what it is and it's free!

Thank you so much! This is amazing! I do have a question about Inkscape. I recently purchased an OmTech 50w co2 laser engraver/cutter. Can I use Inkscape with the laser or do I need a different program?
@ashleefalco9 ай бұрын
I have a glowforge, xtool, and epilog and use Inkscape to create my svg’s for my lasers. I’m not 100% certain about Omtech though.

shoot. I wish!! There are so many commands for Inkscape that it would be as thick as the Bible.

When I try to save the file Inkscape send a pop up that’s say it was saved with a format that may cause data loss, and when I send the file for downloads there’s no option to save the image or send to files.im confused
@ashleefalco8 ай бұрын
if you save it as an Inkscape svg you won't get the error. If you save it as a .svg you will. However, I've never seen data loss when I save it that way.
