Capacitors increses (leading) power factor. It can't directly reduce power consumption. Btw, parallel conncting capacitors r not available in India now, they r only for series connction.

Shouldn't 220 ohms resister be connected to the neg and pos points of the plug, so that when the plug is pulled out of the power outlet the capacitor will discharge instantly? Can you comment pls?

Will the capacitor still.save.the electricity if that resister is connected to the negative and positive terminals of the plug to which the capacitor is.comnected? Do you recommend this?
