I don't know if you know about it or not, but Walmart has a fantastic little savings card. Its a Bluebird American Express debit card. They're free at Walmart. Every time you shop at Walmart, you put in some numbers from your receipt. If there's a cheaper price in comparable stores, grocery stores, etc. Walmart will put the difference on your Bluebird card. For instance, I bought a 12 pack of Coke for 4.48. It was on sale somewhere else, so Walmart put 1.58 the difference on my card. I save it up from Jan.1 to Dec 20th or so. This is most if not all of our Christmas money. Last year we had 500.00 for Christmas!!

Great video. This is what I've been doing saving for a house. I never thought I'd be able to save thousands and thousands of dollars this past year, but by "treating savings as a bill" each pay period, I've totally seen that money grow effortlessly.

I think this method would help with a car negotiation. When the dealer tries to sell add-ons (unnecessary features), you can say that you only have this fixed amount of money that you have saved up.

awesome advice!!! we don't do this as much as we should but we are doing it for 'the trip of a lifetime'. We have an automatic deduction that happens on payday. We'll be there before we know it.

Good points to consider when your purchasing larger items 👍 And always putting some money back for emergencies. I know that's really hard especially when you are on a fixed income! I like your idea about once you have saved your funds for something in particular and you might change your mind about what you really wanted and you done the research that it's possible you may not want/need that anymore! You just might want to keep saving because now you are conditioned to putting money away and that's a great feeling knowing you are in charge of your spending and saving too. Thank you for sharing your ideas I enjoy listening and learning 👍👏☝️🏡

Great advice as usual. I'd guess it never occurs to some people. that they can pay cash for vehicles. Interest adds a lot to purchases. You are wise beyond your years.

Keep any extra money you have in your mortgage. It's generally the lowest interest rate you will have access to. Money saved in the mortgage at 3% is better than money "made" in a savings account at a (taxed) 2.5%.

Yeah honestly when I buy something I just pay in full because interest really does add up! I'd rather wait to buy it in cash rather than getting it on interest for instant gratification. But everyone's situation varies so there's that too.

.Dear frugal lady. I don't know how to save your money for your children college tuition .but I have a idea if you teach your children to put aside even a dollar or 2 in month . It would give them a sense of pride. I love all of your videos.

Can you be my wife?! Haha, this is excellent advice! There is truly something rewarding about watching your savings account balance increase and your credit card stay eliminated from the equation. It is always wise to pay yourself first and work towards paying debt secondary, as something will always come up(.)

Method of separate account for a specific item doesn't work for people who avoid paying bills as much as they can; they would rather go out to eat then pay their car payment =(

I agree with you on most of this but if you only have one car and it kicks the bucket and say it's not fixable and you don't hAve any money saved you would have to take another route. I am extremely frugal but I draw the line when it comes to the transportation I use for me and my kids I want a dependable car with working heat and air I live way down south and our summers get super hot and I am not going to sweat to death while doing errands. Lol. I also don't want to fear breaking down I drove older cars with no air and heat while I was single and in school but now it's not just me I have my boys. So I do have a car note and I also have a plan through triple AAA but I own my home and everything in it so I don't mind the car note because me and my boys are safe. Plus hey I deserve it I work hard at being frugal in other areas!! 😊😊😊

No, I show him saving money video's all the time. He does good for a while then goes right back to spending like we don't have a hole in the bathroom floor. This past six months have been terrible for us. I've spent most of my savings bailing him out of not having the money to buy a new to us truck, then paid his half of the bills when his truck needed repairs. However, when I got his bank statement I saw that most of his paycheck went to junk food ! I cook good meals for him at work. What really got me is he bounced a check at burger king, that hamburger cost him 39.00. He has nothing in savings and after all this I barely have any. I do have a thousand left in the emergency fund. I'm just really frustrated, it seems as though when he figures out I have money put back he goes crazy spending. I'm trying to get the house paid off I only owe 7000. left on it. I just don't know what is the right thing to do to wake him up, and will keep him motivated so, we can get ahead so I don't have to always be worrying.
