I don't understand why should we pay Tax on everything. Iam paying tax on my Income/Earning after putting all my efforts. and paying GST on each and every purchase i made.and paying tax on investments and for even insurance also i am paying GST. Where is the benefit for middle-class people. Except 360° Tax.

That is the reason many middle class people who invest in stock market won't even show this income in their itr forms. They hve that confidence that IT people won't bother this small earners .

Great Explanation. However I want to add 2 points. This LTCG & STCG affects rebate under section 87A. e.g. If somebody have taxable salary (after all deductions) of Rs 495K and he earns STCG of 12K then he will have to pay 15% of STCG and will have to pay Rs 12.5 K for income tax which the person could save under sec 87A. There can be many calculations where the STCG & LTCG can do loss for you if you gets rebate under sec 87A. The second point is SIP in mutual fund. In the case of SIP, the time period (LTCG & STCG) counts from SIP date only. Suppose someone is doing 12 SIP in a equity mutual fund in a year, every SIP date will have to complete 1 year for qualifying Long term. Many people do this mistake.

Thanks for covering one of the most important point in Income Tax. I am really surprised even many Tax Professionals are ignorant about these benefits and they treat short term gains as income and calculate taxes as income. I think every investor need to save this video and use it while filing return next time. Please surely share all the ways of managing taxes if you can. Hi Sahil Kindly guide me three things 1. What about dividend income? 2. Person having earning less than 5 lakhs and do not come in tax bracket? 3. From where I can check my whole year profit & loss at one place?
@akshayghali72003 жыл бұрын
1. Dividend income is to be added to your total taxable income and is taxed as per your income tax slab. 2. I presume you are asking about STCG on debt MFs as equity MFs/stocks have a flat taxation. In case your total income plus STCG on debt MFs does not exceed 5 lakhs (of course, after all the deductions under 80C, 80D etc), then you do not have to pay tax. 3. If you are using Zerodha, there is a section called Console. You will get all the information there on how much profits you have booked.

Which is more profitable...tax harvesting or keeping my original average price.

Also if you book losses against profit booking of stcg, then next year you will have more tax burden

Hi Sahil, Thank you for the video on Tax harvesting. I liked the video vey much as it can help us in saving taxes on stocks and MF. I have question here... If an investor have 10 stocks (6 stocks have 80K profit and 4 stocks have 40K loss). If he sells 6 stocks which are in profit, he has to pay 12K as STCG tax. If he sells all 10 stocks (and buy 4 stocks which were sold in loss), he has to pay only 6 K as STCG tax. So, savings on STCG tax is 6K. But, the stocks which were in loss he sold for 40k loss and bought the same on next day. During next year, if these stocks get 40 k profit, he has to pay tax for this 40K ie. 6K as STCG tax. Here, whatever profit he is getting in the next year, is not actually the profit, it is compensation to the last year loss. If this is the case, we you are just reducing this year TAX , but paying saved tax in the next subsequent years. Plz answer my query, as I feel I am missing some logic in tax harvesting which you have explained in this video. Thank you.
