We did this consecration 18 years ago when our 5 children were little and we were going thru tough times, and despite going through even tougher times later (job loss/bankruptcy and even a traumatic near-death accident) - Graces have filled our family to keep us together, true to our faith, in a home and well fed, and even getting the kids thru college in our impossible financial condition. I can attribute my surviving a traumatic near-death accident only to Promise #7 of saying the rosary (protected from dying 'not in a state of grace'....)! These 'tough times' we went through I think were God ordained - we've transformed from weak/lukewarm Catholics into fearless yet charitable pilgrims focused & in love with the Holy Family!

Do a swap with Mother Mary. Pray the rosary for the intentions of her immaculate heart and let her pray for your marriage. I did the swap prayers for an intention a couple of months ago. It brought me peace, and i wasn't fixated on my problem, and eventually, everything worked out for the best. I have found out that it is easier for me to pray for Mother Mary's intentions and stay committed in prayers than praying for my intentions.

Early in our marriage, things were financially really bad. We fought a lot, disagreed often, and cried a lot. One day when he was at work and the babies were napping, I got on my knees, cried and pleaded for Our Lady's help out of the mess. I started praying the rosary..one time a day then twice a day until I was saying it 7 times a day. Our financial situation improved, we worked through it together and we kept praying and never stopped. God does hear out prayers. He truly does. Our Lady will graciously lead us to him.

If only I had known this edification years ago - none of my children are Catholic and none of their children are Catholic either - everyone *is* speaking with everyone else which is a gift but my Catholic husband never set the example we needed as to the Church, so we just rambled through life with the idea that whatever we did was fine as long as we attended Mass. I have forgiven him but there is so much scrambled information that it's a matter of sorting it all out, which I attempt to do, but nobody else cares. Banging my head on a resistant wall and hoping and praying for miracles!

My children were raised Catholics. We used to pray every day. I tried teaching them values. We went to mass every Sunday. Even on the way to school driving we prayed. They are both adults now. Our youngest one got married in the Catholic church. My daughter in law is now a Catholic. My mom who passed away 6 months ago prayed for a long time and she had the joy to be part of their marriage in the Catholic Church. That was March 20th of 2024. In May this year she passed away. That is wonderful that you are devoted to your family, but I know from personal experience parents can only live at a distance for so long without negative effects on the marriage. As much as you want to please your children if they are minor children, they do not get a vote. They can express an opinion, but the parents must do what’s best for the family as a whole and keep it intact under one roof. I haven't watched this video, yet. I am the only one in my family that prays and attends church. I divorced my first husband when my children were very young. They attended parochial school in elementary years. We went to mass every Sunday. (Although I was Catholic more by culture). Twelve years after my first marriage ended I re-married. My children were teens and gave me grief about attending mass. I was always working and too lazy on off days to go to church. Taking care of my mother with dementia is what brought me back to Church. Had my marriage blessed in 2015. My husband is non practicing Orthodox. Nobody in my family shares my faith. I worry about my grandchildren. Praying constantly for conversion of my family.

@alwaysmisskaryn No. I did not get married in church. I was not practicing my faith. I married my current husband in civil ceremony. He was previously married in Catholic Church and we had his first marriage anulled. We had marriage blessed 15 years after our civil ceremony.

As a child in elementary school I was the one who tried to get my parents to pray the rosary in the evening, without much success. My parents didn’t love each other and when my mother caught my father in bed other another women, she kicked him out of the house, or divorced him. My father remarried outside of the Chirch, without an annulment, but my mother never did.

Father Chris, in the Philippines, in our family, if we don’t go to Mass. My Mama will scream at us in a gentle voice and somehow it will make you feel guilty and she is like a conscience everyday that tells you to go to Mass.
