In this video you will see us sawing what we consider to be a very large pine log! I go over the entire process. Its a little lengthy but you can just skip forward to the parts you want to see! Thanks for watching guys! Please take time to like this, comment, and share!

When I was little, my dad custom sawed using the sawmill on our farm. The local farmers would bring their timber and have him cut it down for gates, fence, and hog crates among other things. Other than farming he kept busy with the mill. It was powered by the Farmall M using a flat belt. That was when I was 4-5 years old. I'm 65 year's young now. This video brings back good memories.

So impressive. My family in NC had a setup like y’all’s. So Happy I found y’all. Theses videos bring back so many great memories. Also so many splinters/ and mouths and clothes full of sawdust.Looking back I’m blessed to have worked the mill and the time spent helping others.

Just found your channel. Love watching the old equipment run. Looks very efficient. Make sure that hook overhead is well secured in the pulley. That could make for a bad day if it can down unintentionally.

These are the kind of videos I really enjoy and im definitely with you on not liking to cut anything over 24 inches at my mill. I'd rather cut 3 or 4 smaller logs to get the same amount of lumber and have a lot less straining turning the big ones. Thanks for sharing with us.

I stopped cutting "stop signs" a long time ago...it takes too much time. Now, if it doesnt fit on the mill, i rip the log in half with a chainsaw right from the start. It saves time and energy in the long run.

Really, since all of the hard times have came up, people are building like crazy and no one around here operates a mill any more. One guy about a mile up the road from me bought a farm and used about 3 acres for his house. Around his house he put up a fence that is about 3/4 X 6 X 5ft high. Someone made some money because they had to be hauled in here. There was a saw mil much like yours beyond my property years ago.

Hey buddy how are ya?? Brother you and your lovely bride make saw milling look easy!!! I often wonder if sawing the big ones is worth it? I sawed 3 logs last week 28 to 32 inches wide. Being a bandsaw mill each 2 inch thick by 27 inch wide slab had to be removed from the mill before they could be gang cut into 2x6 s. I’m cutting 18 inch logs this week so much easier and fast. It’s nice to get 600 board feet out of one log but ya sure gotta work for it. Keep the sawmill content coming buddy love it all. God bless you and the family!

I sometimes see these people freehand chainsaw milling and I often wonder why sawyers don't split these monsters with a chainsaw and then mill each half "face down" until its a manageable shape and/or size. You practically did it anyway with your first cut..
