Talan/mentes in the meaning of “without” are actually the tricky part, I thought you’d include that in your video. But it’s a good lesson, köszönöm!

May I answer? (it's not my video!). If yes, "mentes" is an adjective coming from the verb "(meg)menteni", which means in English to save. "Mentes" has a very formal meaning and is encountered only when something intentional is missing from a chemical composition, especially with regard to drugs. For example "cukor mentes", without sugar, figuratively said "saved" by sugar. Is it more clear now?

"without" as an adjective usually is used as the stuff "-less". An earless rabbit. A roofless home. A laughless day. A loveless home.
