How to Score a Glass Drop-Out Successfully

If you've used a straight glass cutter, you know the importance of applied pressure and cutting oil. You must have oil seeping into your score to get a successful break in the next step of the process. You must also be appying an apt aomount of pressure into your score to make a significant cut. @@kaymcconnell4221 it's not as pretty. It's a lot of tugging and pulling and re-tapping on your score line to separate the base.

You are using a carbide cutter, not a drill bit. And the oil lubricates the cutter and prolongs its life, making for a smoother cut. The cutting wheel rotates on a small axis that moves better when lubricated. I've never heard that the oil opens up the cut. It's a beautiful piece and you are brave to score and break something like that, but the info isn't quite right.

My terminology is definitely inaccurate in this video. It's a cutter head, correct. Cutting oil helps initiate and keep your score alive, it doesn't technically "open up your score", that's just creative speaking on my part. Appreciated your feedback, I'll be as specific as I can with my words in the future 👍
