hi just found you and subbed. I lovvve YARD SALES. and anything to do with saving money another yard sale tip is to bring hand sanitizer because sometimes a great item is buried under a ton of dirt and yuckiness. give your hands a squirt after each stop. just makes me feel refreshed and ready for the next location..

Yes! More garage sale hauls! I'm a haggler too, which is why my best tip is to pick your shopping partners carefully. My hubby gets embarrassed when I bargain. My MIL takes FOREVER and my sister is just right. 😉😊

Great finds girl! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼There was a community yard sale on Saturday where I work. I went out during lunch and people saw me in my uniform due to HIPPA I can not tell you what I do. But people were trying to give me things left and right for FREE. I never get to go to yard/estate sales due to working Friday/sat/Sunday's. I had been looking for terra cotta pots because I'm growing food this summer and veggies and spices. GIRL I GOT 3 GIANT POTS AND I MEAN GIANT. Then 4 others for free. I had to call work and see and have people come help me. I felt so blessed! That was all I wanted on my yard sale list this summer. and figured I'd never get them because of work. When I didn't work weekends, I never go to an estate sale unless it's 50 percent off day. Today I washed all the giant planters ( my day off) tomorrow ( Tuesday day off) I'm going to plant my tomato plants and all the others I've been growing in those plastic black Walmart things. I loved your star like candle holder beautiful!!!!

Sarah your trays would make a beautiful wall collage! I don't garage sale but my best score ever was off Kijiji for a window air conditioner. New would have cost me $550 (can you say not happening!)- I typed in air conditioner and instead of selecting the air conditioner category I left it blank - one ad popped up in with kitchen appliances ? The ad was a few weeks old and mentioned they were moving, he originally wanted $100 but had dropped the price to $50. I called asked if he would take $30 if I could pick it up that day and he said sure! He told me I was the only one to call - I didn't have the heart to tell him he listed his unit with a bunch of toasters! That was 6 summers ago and its still going strong best $30 I ever spent!

I like the glass star thing. You might consider getting remote controlled tea lights to put inside so you don't have to open it up every time. I love a good garage sale! My mom and I usually go a couple times a year. In full Dave Ramsey mode, one year I only brought $10 cash. I was looking for a vacuum and found a Bissell that was practicably new. They wanted $20, I said, 'sorry, all I've got is a ten, will you take it?' and they did. Victory is mine! ;)

Love the last item!!! . I am from Argentina, and there is not that common to have yard sales. But we do have salvation army and also what we call "american fairs" , which are like drift stores but that open only once a month, or every other month. Those are usually run by a church group and the money they raise is for helping people in the street and programs for people with addiction problems. They sell clothes, mostly. But you can find household items two. Everything is in really good condition and the prices are REALLY cheap. Anyways, I just got the invite for one of those this Saturday and also got another one for this Friday, so this will be a fun yard sale weekend for me, and my friend. I enjoy buying some items that i would later alter with my sewing machine to have something unique and nice. Is one of my favourite frugal activities. Congratulations for your 2 year debtfreeversary!! I wish I was there two, just started my debt free journey in October last year and it feels like i am never going to get out of this mess, but your videos and motivation through instagram really help me get going. Cheers from Argentina!! (and kisses to the lovely Rory)

Garage sales are the way to go for kids when you have them. We went garagesaling officially for the first time. I did the Google maps thing and mapped the sales. We hit a church sale that was awesome most things were $1 or lower. It was crazy. We filled our car for $11..... Thank goad I did t have a bigger vehicle. We came out with two doll houses and a ride on tractor.

Great tips! In the UK we have Car boot sales which are scheduled events at set locations. When buying or selling here, always be polite - it goes a long way with the seller/buyer and makes for a respectful and pleasant transaction. Only offer what you are willing to pay and be prepared to walk away if the deal isn't right. I second the "bring lots of change" and also bring carrier bags (again, for both buyers and sellers) as these are much requested and can actually put people off buying. Be prepared for people jumping on your stuff the very second it leaves the car. We've also had people walk up to the car and open doors before (!). These are sharks looking to buy low and sell high on their own stall. Be firm, stand your ground and assert yourself - it is very bad manners for people to approach your vehicle or invade personal space - tell these people to back off and come back later. Say "Good Morning/Afternoon" to people who approach the table and keep things positive! Don't be put off by car-boot regulars who feel undersold x

Yay! Glad your back Sarah! Can I make a request- would you share more budget friendly recipes/how to's as you meal plan? It is always so helpful to have tried and true tasty recipes - like the 5 can soup and the chicken, carrots etc "go to" recipes that you have shared.

Great video! I was excited to see a new Budget Girl video. I hope you are feeling refreshed after your cruising holiday. I dread negotiating and would probably just pay full price to save myself the awkwardness of it, however my sister loves it so travelling with her is great for market haggling.

My daughter talked me into a Jeep /camper for target brand american girl doll . it was labeled $50 and I said no honey we can do that we can afford it and then Lily said I'll sell it to you for $25. She begged and begged and begged. And promised to work off the debt to me. We had our way had a car full of stuff. I got really good prices on and she was so adamant about it and I do know but that was a great price for those things the campers usually around a hundred I think the Jeeps at least 40. as I was rearranging my car to fit all the stuff in the teenage girl who was the one selling it came up to my daughter and her and actual American Girl doll it was in brand new condition with wheelchair accessories set. Just gave it to her the doll was marked for $45 and the girl said I don't play with it anymore would you like to have it. So my daughter ended up making a fantastic deal $25 then she ended up with a brand new American Girl doll in the process. that was so sweet of the girl and then it made me feel better about the purchase and general but I told her she's not allowed to come to garage sales anymore because most of the stuff we got was her my other daughter though was very smart with her money. she bought more at the little old lady garage sales then the church full of toys. She came home with some beautiful vintage wooden boxes to put her stuff in a microphone and a play tent... And she had money to spare. she was most excited about her microphone that she got for $0.25. we had a lot of fun but I think I need to be stricter with my kids budgets. like they bring their own money if they don't have money for it too bad. I tend to be a push over. 😬

Awesome tips, BG - another way to find garage/estate sales is the "Yard Sale Treasure Map" app (I think they have it for both iPhone and Android). They pull in all yard sales from Craigslist, for sure, and show them to you on a map, but I think they pull in from other sources like Facebook. P.S. (I commented before watching the entire vid. I should know better by now LOL) Yes, don't be afraid to ask for a lower price. I'm an introvert, but I think if you smile, be nice to the sellers, and strike up some small talk, they'll be willing to deal. And it never hurts to ask for a deal!

On the facebook app there is a marketplace. It looks like a house sorta. They have categories, so you can look at just garage sales. I love the photos, because it helps me decide which ones are worth the trip.

put a rock or something in the center of the birdbath so that they can sit on it and drink without drowning in case they fall in. I don't know I heard that you should have something like that somewhere before I can't remember where.

i don't know about your area, but in sc kansas, the minute "estate sale" is listed, you can guarantee the price is going to go up exponentially. its ridiculous what estate companies charge for old items.
@BudgetGirl5 жыл бұрын
I've seen some things ridiculously priced, but the more common house items like books, furniture, kitchenware and random stuff is often crazy cheap. They do tend to reserve a few high dollar items here but it's always worth a trip!

You'll get better deals at a yard sale. Simply because people are selling tons and don't want to sell things individually. If you're looking for something specific, Letgo would be good!
