I'd forgotten how to turn the microphone on, so I came searching for this and am glad I found it. But It's letting me record from the external microphone-which was all I'd needed previously. Now I need to record internal , but it's not recording any sound from the internal apps, whether I have the microphone on or not. There's no sound at all when I'm screen recording. When I stop the recording, the sound immediately comes through,. Therefore, I know I have the sound set correctly. If I run any app with sound, the sound doesn't come through. I tested a FaceTime call and could hear just fine, but when I went to listen to the recording, there wasn't any sound at all. I went to Privacy>Microphone like you said, and the apps that I'm trying to record audio from (FaceTime and Music) are not listed and there's no option to add them. I have the 1st Gen SE with iOS 15.4.1 and an iPad Air 2 with iOS 15.4.1 and they do the same thing. I went to Apple Support and the iPhone User Guide doesn't even mention turning on the microphone. It just tells you how to start the screen recording. You won't even know the sound wasn't recorded until after you finish and play the video back. By then, it's too late for a take-two in a FaceTime call if you need the audio.

Ugh, we feel your pain! Unfortunately features like this may not always work with all third-party apps. I would check if they have an app update because there's a chance they fixed it. Another option is to use iMovie to remove background noise. This may alter the other audio too though, unfortunately.
