So well apart from the green line not appearing in my model and taking ages to be able to remove the symmetry only to find when I'd finished form for it to have come back, yep. Very excited about this lesson. I can load in an image from a mask I want to create, the with symmetry selected be able to copy the shape. Really like it. Dog walk now in the UK winter and then right back to it again. Thanks Kevin
@ProductDesignOnline5 жыл бұрын
Hi, James. That's a great point with your mask being symmetrical. Symmetry will definitely come in handy for you. On the other hand, if you were to surface model the mask, you could focus on one half and then mirror it over to the other side to complete the entire mask. Cheers, Kevin :)
@jamesbarratt5935 жыл бұрын
The internals are different though. Inside there being say the fittings for the head strap made from plastic and adjustable. Then there will be other fittings and options inside too. Can you remind me of something. What or wheres the thickness command? So when I design the outside I want the internal thickness to one be 5mm. Thx
@ProductDesignOnline5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbarratt593 Hi James. There are actually two "Thicken" commands. The solid modeling one (under design workspace > solid tab > create drop-down list). Then there is also a Sculpt thicken command, that is only accessible via the Form/Sculpt environment. The difference is that the Sculpt one allows you to edit internal T-Spline faces; whereas, the solid thicken will create the same amount of faces as the geometry on the outside. Cheers, Kevin :)

Well theres a video for you to make. The thicken command and the differences between them.

Is there a difference between Shift and Control keys when selecting multiple faces (except selecting all the faces between 2 faces when using Shift)? I am used to use Control but I do not want to catch a bad habit from the start if that alters anything.
@jimr36336 жыл бұрын
At minute 9:00 you insert an edge and it reshapes your surface! How do you stop Fusion 360 from doing this, and simply insert a new edge (loop cut) maintaining existing vertices, tagency and curvature? No biggie with a simple model, but when the model becomes more complicated the rework is crazy making! You went to so much trouble to get everything where you wanted it and POOF all the neighbors move.
@ProductDesignOnline6 жыл бұрын
Great question, Jim! There are a few things that I would probably do differently, but I didn't want to go too crazy in this tutorial. You can actually "freeze" or "unfreeze" faces and edges...although sometimes it restricts the movement of the faces you're trying to move (so this doesn't always work). Likely the best scenario would've been that I planned ahead a bit more and inserted edges or extra faces in that area before I started to shape the mouse at all. You'll hear me mention A LOT that the "more faces the more control you will have" which can really make the difference. A lot of it all comes down to trial and error, playing around with the sculpt and using CMD/CTRL + Z (undo) a lot. Probably the best thing I could've done in this scenario given that I didn't plan ahead for the front of the mouse would be to select only some of the front faces and use the "divide" tool... which would divide the faces into multiple parts. This way, only the front faces would've been affected and not the rest (back and bottom) of the mouse, which was affected all around since the new edge went all the way around. I will start showing more of these concepts as I put out more sculpting videos. As always, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Kevin :)

Can you animate in fusion and implement into a third party program like after effects?
@ProductDesignOnline4 жыл бұрын
The animate workspace in Fusion 360 is still pretty limited. It's generally better to export the 3D model and import it into a another program that can do more advanced animations. Fusion 360 animations can only export as movie files such as MP4 and AVI.

@ProductDesignOnline4 жыл бұрын
You will need to go to the 'Box Mode' and look for where the faces intersect. You can then fix the faces (move the intersecting points/overlapping points away from one another) and it should take care of your error.

I would like to see a step-by-step of a product from beginning to end from a possible clients following their specification parameters sheet. Then explain how to best incorporate the ergonomics of a hand with out using a background image. Why a the average size of the mouse will work for most hand size, why you might suggest one plastic as opposed to another. In other words 40, 15 minutes lessons on designing that mouse ( or a drone)from idea to working 3D printed prototype. You should know that your tutoring is exceptional. This idea should include sourcing the parts. Hope you have the time.

CURIOUS MORE LIKE QUESTION TO FINISH THIS MODEL TO MAKE THE HOLE. WOULD IT BE A SHELL OR SKETCH AND EXTRUDE TO SUBRTACT IT ?
@royalrevue236 жыл бұрын
Probably did it wrong . I did a sketch nnjust. Extrude it up. N fillet it
@ProductDesignOnline6 жыл бұрын
Hi Royal REvue, that really depends on what final outcome you're shooting for. I would shell the entire object first if I were going to model any of the internal components. Then, as you said, you could create the hole by a simple sketch and extrude. Alternatively, you could also use the slot or hole commands depending on the shape of the hole. I wanted this tutorial to stay focused on the beginner sculpting features. In some of the future sculpt video I will be showing how to convert to a solid body and then will modify the solid body further. Cheers, Kevin :)

I thought that you would have modeled the mouse in the preview image, switching from the sculpt environment to the model one. So my question is: there will be a second part of this tutorial? 😂
@ProductDesignOnline6 жыл бұрын
Hi Angelo, thanks for watching! I purpose of this tutorial was to have another intro/basic sculpting tutorial to help beginners get used to the edit form commands and some of the other sculpting features. Thus, I will not be doing a part 2. However, in the future some of the sculpting tutorials will have more in depth and cover the entire process of converting back to a solid body and using the modeling tools to further edit the form. Cheers, Kevin :)

@@humphreybfiftytwo Understandable. I should've been more clear about that.
