Really enjoying your videos! I've been feeling so bored of drawing and painting recently and sculpting's been doing wonders for my creativity, even if it's just a study it's fun! Having that feeling of being a beginner at first, fumbling and getting a hold of the medium feels almost cathartic.

Omg yes. I was working on a sculpture and found I just couldn't get the mouth right (like, in the slightest). I did 1 sculpture of a mouth on a ball to practice (with references), but it still didn't look great. This is amazing.

I like to see your great workflow and how its all coming together because of it! My main sculpting prob is that I have difficulties to get the heads shape right- most of them look like paper mache jokers...- and the worst- I fall into detail far too early. Nice tutorial Yan, is it really better doing this on a drawing tablet?
@kopshi
@kopshi 4 жыл бұрын
Drawing tablets make sculpting 9x better, but one with a screen is only marginally better. A second hand Wacom Intuos Draw won't set you back very much and can get you far. Hell, a Huion 420 / H420 can do a lot for less than $30 if you don't mind the small screen.

I just bought these on Amazon: Artist Glove for Drawing Tablet Tablet Finger Glove for Graphics Drawing Tablet Light Box Tracing Light Pad (Artist Glove - L 4 Pack). Can't wait to get them and give one to my girlfriend. I do pen and ink artwork and up until now, I have used a piece of paper to keep my hand off of the artwork. This will be so more convenient. Now to watch the video. Counting on it being a good one. I have to morph a mouth on a figure from Poser and make the alterations in Blender then move it back to Poser as a morph.

I have a few questions. I should use the standard or clay brush under creases to make those creases look less like they're just kinda there, right? Are there other ways to do this that would be more fitting, depending on the situation? What do those gloves in the intro help with? I can't exactly think of a use for them. Would you say Zaxel's two basemeshes on Sketchfab are anatomically correct and good for reference? Here's the link to both of them. sketchfab.com/models/7ceef678ea32456fbcc1e495714a0f05 sketchfab.com/models/1afa3fa46b6843a79b724e9835bf9bf2 Unfortunately, the male basemesh forgot where his face went, so if I can't find a good mirror I'll have to find another bit of reference :p
@yansculpts
@yansculpts 6 жыл бұрын
Didn't understand first question. Gloves makes your movements smooth with the tablet and even with drawing, avoids stickiness. Something you will understand a lot better if you try it for yourself. Best anatomy reference are real human beings, google images of them. Don't have time to check these models in details but they look good from a quick look. Hope that helps :)
@chaoticracer
@chaoticracer 6 жыл бұрын
Alright, thanks! :D If you have time to check them in detail a bit more, that would be nice, but don't feel like you have to.
@chaoticracer
@chaoticracer 6 жыл бұрын
Also, the thing with the first question is under fat masses (Like the stomach maybe? I don't know.), I should put a crease, and then an inverse crease or use the clay/standard brush? Am I wrong about the stomach thing, or just in general? Is the crease thing only for certain masses, or for all of them?

i started yesterday and everytime i saw a video i asked me the same question. and i think it is the the "relative detail" option i the dynotopo menu.at first i used constant detail because in the very first video i saw the guy said that and i kept it that way.but now that i have changed it to relative details it is much better.you get more details/vertices when you sculpt zoomed in.if you zoom out and sculpt you have less.hope thats right.im a beginner.

@@pascalw7869 Constant detail works too, you just have to change the resolution. Relative detail can be tricky sometimes because the resolution changes depending on how zoomed in you are.

don’t be discouraged! it’s not going to be perfect at first, but with time and practice you’ll get there. i’d say the most important thing is to enjoy the process :)

@@jen2526 thanks! it really hit me at the "enjoy the process" part, I'll do that. It was just so stressful to see perfection compared to my art, i guess i was being such a perfectionist. I'll remember that everytime i sculpt now, thanks again!

I actually can't draw for shit but can sculpt. Yeah....I don't understand how that happened, either 😂😂 it makes zero sense to me that I can sculpt a mouth almost perfectly but if you ask me to draw one it'll end up looking more like a butt. 😂

2 things come to mind on the spot, we generally spend more time with out sculpts, so if you spend equal amount of time drawing the mouth i think you will get it (unless you never drew before). Second thing is 3d take cares of perspective and volume for you for the most part, in 2d you need to aquire that skill.

It's not surprising. Drawing in paper is quite different to drawing on the computer.
