How to Seal & Fill Liquid Resin Shakers: NO LEAKS, FOOLPROOF

EDIT PLEASE READ at 11:45, I said I used 1/8 inch hole punch when I meant to say 1/16 inch. Sorry for the confusion!
You can also sand the frame surface where the plastic film is going to lay on to increase overall adhesion. Normally this is not a necessary step if you’re sealing/doming on a piece that hasn’t reached its full cured state (which takes about 3 to 7 days). If your resin has way past the soft cured stage and is fully cured, then I recommend the sanding.
****Many commercial shaker resin molds have a slit or a notch for the needle for filling the shaker liquid. I hate this because I can never seal it properly using that. So I normally fill it in with resin. Check out this video on how I do it: • Watch Me Resin: BT21 L... . (At 3:47 mark)

FAQS regarding this video:
Q: I DONT HAVE UV RESIN, CAN I USE 2PART RESIN TO GLUE ON THE PLASTIC FILM?
A: You can but the film may slide off so you would have to baby sit the film for a while until the resin has cured enough where it won’t move. OR you can wait for the resin to get thicker and stickier before gluing the film on.
Q: I don’t have uv resin, can I use clear glue to seal the plastic film onto the frame?
A: as long as you have a leak free seal with the glue...I guess? But you’re going to be able to see the glue even after you seal it with resin.

Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin rocast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

Hello! I love following your videos. I have a shaker question. I fill my shaker with chunky glitter and sometimes confetti but they ALWAYS stick to the front of the shaker film. I tried to add in baby oil to try to keep it down then sealing it and filling but that didn't help either. Any suggestions?

I find that anything flat and light weight will get stuck to the film. If the confetti is large enough I would dome it with uv resin. Now, I only put heavy inclusions like metal charms, rhinestones and cane slices for liquid shakers

Like clear vinyl fabric? I wouldn’t recommend since it’s not rigid. It won’t be able to hold the weight of the resin and will sag.

For removing air bubbles from our resin do you recommend heat gun, lighter or blow torch ? I also don't want to ruin my moulds with lighter or a blow torch so pls suggest me

I use both because it really depends. You can use a torch if it’s a very quick sweep across the resin. However, if your mold is deep, I would use a heat gun instead.
