I have used Sea-jacket on the inner cowl. It not only sealed the inner cowl, but I use it to build up and eliminate that depression around the coffee-cans.

Like 90 weld thru primer is my go to weld thru prime I've had really good luck with.

Totally agree on the weld through primer. I paint the surfaces and then clamp the parts together. I have a 1/4” drill bit I have ground flat. I then “drill” the paint off through each of my plug weld holes.

I agree with you about weld thru primer , I don't use it anymore either . I have been just taking thinned out epoxy primer in a syringe wind a needle tip and squeezing it into the tint gaps that I can get to around the spot welds . Having thinned out lets it flow in the pretty good and Ido 2 rounds of it about 30 minutes apart .

I’ve tried a couple different weld through primers. I think you’re right they get in the way when you want to strike your arc. I usually spray the weld through primer on both sides and before I weld I’ll scratch through the hole where my plug weld is with a wire brush. I just scratch the surface a little bit and that helps me strike my arc and get my weld started.

I too had trouble with weld through primer. I also sealed the inside gap of the hats. On my car those 2 welds holding the apron connector to the top of the upper cowl broke loose so water ran down inside the hat, filled that gap and rusted from the inside.

I'm glad you show people how labor intensive it is and the innerspring are as important as the outer preparation

Awesome work on all of your 'Stangs!! Videos are short, informative and inspiring. As a TV reporter may a make a suggestion? As you shoot you're on camera videos, I've noticed that you look to the left side of the shot vs making forward eye contact with your audience. Maybe look into the lense of your GoPro. Again, great work. Keep it up!

Maybe, one day someone will come up with a good way to seal the underside of the top panel where the two panel seams are welded together.

Such nice work, it really frustrates me how poor Ford’s design was inside the cowl to reliably clear the water away without the drain areas blocking up with debris. Is there any access to keep that drain regularly clear once the car is built?🤔
@MAn-ti3ul
@MAn-ti3ul Жыл бұрын
Most people who go to this length to restore a car are not leaving it outside. So the need to worry about the drain holes getting plugged with debris is a moot point!

Love watching your work.. Do you typically leave bottom in the black, or will you hit it with the color paint, if you know color car be ultimately painted ? PS: on the 65 F/b cowl job, the car was painted white already, so I did cowl panels just You've shown before, though I used Appliance white epoxy paint over the Eastwood Encapsulator as well. Curious 🧐, what are thoughts 💭 on what you can 🙈, thru the cowl louvers from after a car is finished? Thanks for sharing...

So you do not use weld through primer before you spot weld the top cowl panel on ? So bare metal on bare metal then prime and seam seal ? You do very nice work , thank you
